Nokturnal,

To do the best job of checking the log entries, a new version of HijackThis (v1.98.2) is now available. It has greater detection capabilities than the version you have.

Please update your older version (1.97.7) of HijackThis as follows:
-Run the program
-Press: Config (lower right corner)
-Click: Misc. Tools at the top.
-Press: Check for online update

You should see version 1.98.2 available
Download the new version

If you have any problems getting the update. Simply delete your old version of HijackThis and download the new version from the following link:
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html

After updating HijackThis to v1.98.2, make sure all windows and browsers are closed before proceeding to Scan and create a new log. Please, do not engage in fixing anything showing up on the log. Just have the program create it, and copy/paste it to this thread.

Thank you.
In addition, please do the following.

Show hidden files/folders
Go to Start>control panel (settings in win 9x)>folder options>view tab
Check mark "display the contents of system folders"
Select "Show hidden files and folders"
Uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types"
Uncheck "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)
Click the [ok] button.

That will be important later.

Please download and run ServiceFilter.. If you recieve a malicious script warning allow it to run, it is harmless. It will make a list of unknown services on your system, please post that list here (follow the instruction given in instructions.txt that comes with the download). Make sure you unzip it before running.

I see a file in your log that we would like a copy of. Before you send it, the file will need to be disabled. I will be watching this thread and will reply when you post back with the new HijackThis! log and the contents of POST_THIS.TXT from ServiceFilter.
alright here we go

There are 82 Win32 services on this machine.
4 were unrecognized.

Script Execution Time: 1.703125 seconds.
Print these instructions, you won't be able to get on the internet in safe mode

Please follow these steps in exactly this order:

Reboot your computer into safe mode (tap as the computer boots, select "Safe Mode" from the menu; not with command prompt or networking).

Go to Start>Run and type Services.msc and click [Ok]

Find a service in the list called ISEXEng, right click it and choose Properties

Use the drop down menu to set the startup type to disabled, click [ok] then close services.msc..

Find the following file and delete it:
c:\windows\system32\angelex.exe

Next, while still in safe mode, run HijackThis and tick the following items for fixing:

O1 - Hosts: 69.20.16.183 auto.search.msn.com
O1 - Hosts: 69.20.16.183 search.netscape.com
O1 - Hosts: 69.20.16.183 ieautosearch
O1 - Hosts: 69.20.16.183 ieautosearch
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [prvtect] C:\WINDOWS\System32\prvtect.exe

If you did not set these, check mark them also:
O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions present
O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present

Click "Fix Checked"

Make a copy of the following file, zip it and send it to me here.
C:\WINDOWS\System32\prvtect.exe
then delete the file.

You cannot email in safe mode of course so just zip it for now.

Still in safe mode:

Go to start run and type in %tmp%, delete all files in the folder that opens.

Go to Start>Control Panel>Internet Options
Under the general tab click "Delete Files" check the "offline content" box and click ok.
Delete cookies also.

Reboot normally and post a fresh HijackThis! and ServiceFilter log.
Just woke up and notice more stuff downloaded into my computer through the popups it seems, i got toolbars now and some other worthless programs im gonna have to go through.

nope, i can't figure out this stuff.. i been checking other forums and alot of people have this problem and there saying its the worse spyware they ever had, some techies are just telling them to format.. but i really dont wanna format for a few weeks atleast, I got some important stuff i gotta do/use.
is your recycling bin screwed up also? when i delete items they just get deleted, they don't go to the recycling bin or anything, so if i accidently delete something its gone for good.
