Temprarily disable Teatimer and Spysweeper and try the fix. I've not seen Spysweeper in very many logs, but it could be inhibiting changes.
Sorry, which fix? HJT or Remove.reg or?? :) BTW, just disabled TeaTimer and killed Webroot, ran HJT and deleted the nasty 11. Will reboot and resubmit new log. Thanks adn will be back in a few seconds.
Found the way to disable TeaTimer, ran HJT, deleted the files, rebooted in SafeMode, ran again. This time only the 23C65F6D-1699-4B4A-B4FC-7AA4F464C885- (fo file) appeared. Fixed, restarted and now have this. Looks like the nasty eleven are gone. Should I now look at MSN.com and see if 'errorplace.com' hijacks my browser or should I do something more [under your guidance, of course!]?

Good job!!!

Now I can kick myself in the bottom for missing Spysweeper as well….

Please try MSN and see what happens. :)

Items you may wish to consider to harden your defenses against future infections:

Read "How did I get infected in the first place?" here:

http://boards.cexx.org/viewtopic.php?t=957

Download IE-Spyad here:

https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/ehowes/www/resource.htm

IE-Spyad puts over 4000 known malicious web sites into IE's "restricted zone" to help prevent you from getting infected.

Check your browser settings here:

http://browsercheck.qualys.com/index.php

A series of "tests" (and suggested fixes) to help tweak IE's settings to help prevent infections when surfing the web.

Follow safe Internet practices:

1. Keep your virus definitions up to date, and scan your system regularly.

2. Don't open email, or download attachments from unrecognized email addresses.

3. Be careful when downloading email attachments, EVEN FROM PEOPLE YOU KNOW! Many virii, worms, and trojans infect a persons system then immeadiately spread themselves to the people in the infected persons addressbook via email attachments.

4. Be careful downloading files from the Internet. Scan all downloaded files with a reliable UP-TO-DATE antivirus program. Scan "zip" files BEFORE unzipping, and scan all unzipped files BEFORE USING THEM.

5. Keep your Windows and IE current with all the latest patches and updates.
(Personally, I'm NOT recommending SP2 for XP at this time)

Well, kinda on track. The 'errorplace.com' has not occured after several sessions of msn.com. However, my MSN Toolbar [pop-up blocker one] is gone despite a reload [shows that it has loaded but is not visible] and in the large window to the right it says 'Action Cancelled'. THis is typically where there is some MSN add or the likes of something similar. Any ideas?

Not very many ideas.

All the entries concerning MSN that you had to begin with:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [msnappau] "C:\Program Files\MSN Apps\Updater\01.02.3000.1001\en-us\msnappau.exe"

Were still in the last log.

I don't see anything we did that should be interfering with MSN at all.
