Greetings and welcome to TomCoyote.org!

I see bad things in your log. :(

Download CWShredder from my signature below. Unzip it on the desktop.
Open CWShredder and with ALL other windows closed, click fix.

Please try these free online virus scans of your system:

Trend-Micro Housecall

Panda Activescan

Etrust Security Advisor

Choose "fix" or "clean".

Let them remove any infections found. Reboot after each scan.

Please download and run Spybot-Search&Destroy and Ad-Aware; they are the standard programs for finding and cleaning malware off your system. Here are links to both programs, and instructions for their use.

Get Spybot - Search & Destroy from http://security.kolla.de
(This is the NEW Version 1.3)
Get AdAware SE Personal from http://www.lavasoft.de/support/download
(This is the NEW Build 1.05)

Download and install these programs if you don't already have them. If you do have them, make sure they are UPDATED AND CONFIGURED AS DESCRIBED here:

http://www.cjwd.demon.co.uk/spybot-adaware.html

Reboot after running each program.

Important: Create a folder on the C: drive called C:\HJT.
You can do this by going to My Computer (Windows key+e) then double click on C: then right click and select New then Folder and name it HJT.
MOVE HijackThis into this folder.

If required a tutorial is here = Hijackthis Folder Tutorial

Make a new log file, and "copy/paste" it into this thread.
:)
Hey,

Thanks for the notes… Ive done all the things in your list (although I already have/use SpyBot and Adaware)… and not many things were found (five in total).

Here is the new LogFile… Im hoping it looks better to you than my first one…

Any more assistance would be great… Cheers.

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix

Restart in Safe Mode:
Restart your computer.

Press F8 after the Power-On Self Test (POST) is done. If the Windows Advanced Options Menu does not appear, try restarting and then pressing F8 several times after the POST screen.
Choose the Safe Mode option from the Windows Advanced Options Menu then press Enter.

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Clear "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
Clear "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Do this also if these Temp Folders are part of your OS.

Also in safe mode navigate to the C:\Windows\Temp folder. Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Next navigate to the C:\Documents and Settings\(EVERY USER)\Local Settings\Temp folder. Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Finally go to Control Panel > Internet Options. On the General tab under "Temporary Internet Files" Click "Delete Files". Put a check by "Delete Offline Content" and click OK. Click on the Programs tab then click the "Reset Web Settings" button. Click Apply then OK.

Empty the Recycle Bin

Reboot and Post a new HijackThis Log
Hey again. I have done all the things you suggested… thank you for your help so far.

Below is my new log for your examination.

Again I hope this is looking healthier than before.

Also an interesting thing to note after rebooting was that I now have a file on my desktop called 'Thumbs.db' and the icon is faint (like a hidden file).

Let me know your thoughts on this, and my new log…

Cheers!

Hey again, On the topic of keeping these settings in IE… I dont really use IE as I have been using Mozilla Firefox for quite some time now. The start page is set to bcomp because that is the online store operated by my small business (meaning I am happy to leave this). The Search bar could be changed from ninemsn… I dont mind… is there a reason I shouldnt have it set to that? As I say I dont use it very often. I use google in Mozilla Firefox. Again thanks for your help… Id love to hear more… Cheers!
Nope those are fine, just checking to see if they were what you wanted :D

Log looks good :D  How is it running any issues?

Turn off System Restore:

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Restart your computer, turn it back on.

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Remove the Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

If you dont have these three programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening. I also have a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on. Both are available below.

Safe Surfing. :D
Hey, thanks for those… I have downloaded Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD (although as I say anything for IE will have limited usefulness as I use Mozilla Firefox). Everything seems to be running quite well… Thank you for your help, I will be recommending you around to all my mates/colleagues. Cheers!
Glad we could help.
