Hello dswitalski, Welcome to TomCoyote forum, I wish to point out that you have a hugh amount of items on your computer that are resource wasters, that should either not be running at startup or removed from your computer completely. After the cleanup I will give you information to help you locate these items.
I also wish to point out that if McAfee does not have a firewall, make sure your WindowsXp firewall is activated in your Security Center.

Open Task Manager ( Press Ctrl, Alt, Delete at the same time) open the Processes tab, look for this item, if it is there, end process on it.
C:\WINDOWS\system32\??oolsv.exe

I would like you to enable hidden files like this:
MANUAL INSTR FOR ENABLE HIDDEN FILES
* Double-click My Computer.
* Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
* Click the View tab.
* Clear "Hide file extensions for known file types."
* Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
* Clear "Hide protected operating system files."
* Click Apply, and then click OK.

Scan with HijackThis and put a check in front of each of these line items:

RIGHT click on Start, then choose Explore. In the tree that opens, locate these files and delete them, just the files, not the folders

C:\WINDOWS\system32\??oolsv.exe

C:\DOCUMEnts and Sewttings~1\DANIEL~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\bundle.exe

C:\Documents and Settings\Daniel Switalski\Application Data\ttuh.exe

With all programs and browser windows closed, click on "Fix Checked".
Clean like this: Start, Run then then type "cleanmgr" without the quotes and ok. Allow Windows to remove anything it locates.

Empty the recycle bin and reboot. Using Add Reply to stay in this same thread, post a new log.

Thanks…pskelley

Thanks "pskelley"!!

I had no problems with anything you gave me with the exception of being able to delete the "spoolsv.exe" file. Access was reportedly denied. I did however finish the fix clean and rebooted, then ran a new hijackthis. Attached is the "new" log file.

Hello dswitalski, good job excuting the instructions. I must point out that I never did tell you to delete spoolsv.exe, see your comments:
"I had no problems with anything you gave me with the exception of being able to delete the "spoolsv.exe" file. Access was reportedly denied. I did however finish the fix clean and rebooted, then ran a new hijackthis. Attached is the "new" log file."
Spoolsv.exe is a very important file that deals with the ability of the computer to communicate with your printer (even if you don't have one). See this link: http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintas…ibrary/spoolsv/
If you will look at the item I asked you to remove, you will see it looked like this: C:\WINDOWS\system32\??oolsv.exe. Notice the spelling; ??oolsv.exe. Often malware writers will change a letter two to make it look valid. Be very carefull that you do not remove anything not requested.

I am interested in how the computer is running? I mentioned earlier that you have quite a lot of programs running that you might want to look at IF you have a resource problem. If you computer is running fine now that the malware is gone, and you enjoy the programs that you have installed and do not have a problem with resources or speed issues, then leave things alone. I will give you several links where you can use the HJT log to look up each item if you wish to see what it is, and if it can be disabled via msconfig. Remember, if you need to use something occasionally, you can then start it via Start, All Programs. Here are links where you can investigate your programs:

http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_index.htm
http://computercops.biz/StartupList.html
http://www.sysinfo.org/startuplist.php

I can report that your computer appears clean of malware, and I will leave you with some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss and ChrisRLG to help you stay that way:

http://www.cjwd.demon.co.uk/compsafetyonline.html

If you do not have a third party firewall installed, make sure your windows firewall is enabled.

Thanks…pskelley

If you are reading this information…thank a teacher, If you are reading it in English…thank a soldier.
Thanks again for the help ( Sorry it took so long to reply as I have been on the road!) Also, sorry about misunderstanding your previous instructions regarding "C:\WINDOWS\system32\??oolsv.exe". I thought the "??" was a wildcard indicator. Thanks for the other tips as well. When I have the time I definitely plan on looking into a few of those. (Oh, and I do employ McAfee Firewall!) One final question about the malware; Will the junk return causing me to run the HiJackThis program every so often?? :weee:
While there are no guarantees, the information in the links I gave you if followed will go a long way towards keeping you clean. I am constantly checking my log so if anything shows up I can clean it out right away. I run the programs suggested, Ad-aware Spybot, SpywardBlaster SpywareGuard IE-Spyad a good antivirus program A good firewall Windows Updates always current I wish you safe surfing, have a nice holiday…pskelley
