Mr. Tate, I did the first two virus scans. The Panda I did for 10 hours and it was still working so had to shut it off. My daughter-in-law did hers and the Panda only took less than an hour, so I knew something was wrong with mine. On the Trend and E Trust I had no viruses. Both were clean. Will wait and keep looking in to see what I can do next. This is the scan after doing the virus scans. When I quit the Panda after all that time it was only at 30,000 under the files. If you need more info. just let me know. Again I really want to thank you for all your time and help. :) Corla
In Internet Explorer: Go to Tools > Internet Options. On the General tab under "Temporary Internet Files" Click "Delete Files". Put a check by "Delete Offline Content" and click OK. Click on the Programs tab then click the "Reset Web Settings" button. Click Apply then OK.
The computer is running better. I still get the about:blank when I shut down the windows. I really haven't done much on it yet because I was afraid I might mess up whatever you have been having me fix. If you want I will use it some and then let you know if I run into anything else. From my understanding of the about:blank, I think it is hidden in a file in the system somewhere and is really a tough one to find. If there is anything else you need to know just let me know. I will checking back. Corla

I still get the about:blank when I shut down the windows.

Are you getting a blank screen or does it show a internet screen that says about blank?

Click here to download DllCompare. Start the Program with and click the Run Locate.com - be sure the \Windows\System32 directory is in the box and wait until the the blue text says it has 'completed the scan'.

Click the Compare button to start the next process. The results appear in two panes - files in the upper pane have been verified to 'exist', files in the lower pane were 'not able to be accessed'. Very few files should be listed in the lower pane when the Compare scan is complete. Click on each of the listed entries in the lower pane to select them. Right-click on the file and use the option Rescan. This will cause Windows Find to see if the file does exist, and then if so it will be removed from the list to reduce the number of identified files.

Click the Make a Log of what was found button and post the log here in this thread and wait for further instructions.
I did the scan and nothing came up in the lower pane, but it would only put C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM in the box and I did not know how to put the 32 in it. I looked through the my computer and couldn't find a 32 so maybe you can tell me how to do it right. About:Blank- when I close the window box it is a blank page with About:blank in the bar. Hope this helps. I will be waiting for a reply. Corla
Sorry my mistake you will have \Windows\System Run Locate.com - be sure the \Windows\System directory is in the box and wait until the the blue text says it has 'completed the scan'. Hello Mr. Tate, Since changing to google I have been bumped off the internet a couple of times and computer is slower. I put on the new 7.0 avg anti virus and am having trouble keeping it on. I keep getting the box to wait-end task-cancel and it doesn't want to work. Not sure what is going on, but it did change. Plus I have had to hard shut down 3 or 4 times now. Plus at the top of the end task box that pops up it said XPCOM and I think comp reciever but not positive because I only gave it a quick glance. I will look more carefully next time. For some reason I cann't get the box to come up now. Will be waiting to see what is next. Thanks for all your time again. Corla
