"Just days after the Mozilla Foundation released the final version of its standalone Firefox browser, a security firm Thursday said that earlier editions were buggy and should be replaced. According to Danish security vendor Secunia, versions of Firefox prior to 1.0 suffer from several vulnerabilities gauged "moderately critical," including ones which could steal passwords from Windows machines and spoof file extensions being downloaded from a Web site.
Hackers could use the vulnerabilities to crash systems, gain access to machines, or trick users into downloading malicious code that's disguised, for instance, as an innocuous file…Secunia recommended that all users of Firefox update immediately to version 1.0, which is available from the Mozilla Web site."
