The following is the log I created from my first scan. I see that at least one of the programs that I have had trouble getting rid of is listed. It has hijacked my home page (Partokrat). This software is the first to locate it! Also, now when I perform a search with google, another page also opens (searcheverything) But now what all do I remove? If any one can help, thanks!!

Sorry it took a while to get this done - I had a horrible attack of some weird illness, luckily it only lasted about 12 hours.

I did everything as you described. I have run the new log and it looks like Partokrat is gone - my home page is not coming up as this after my restart (for the first time in months. I noticed on the latest hijack scan that Surf sidekick is still there. Any suggestions? And by the way, thank you!!!

I decided while I was waiting to go through all the steps again. I ran the program, removed the few things on the above list that had returned, rebooted in safe mode and removed the files that had reappeared. I believe the first time I did it I may have missed one item, because after this attempt my computer is no longer diverting my home page or search page!!! Below is my newest log. Is there anything else that needs addressed? I just wanted to say thank you again! I am so glad I discovered this program - I was at my wit's end. My lovely computer was moving a little slow and it was so annoying try to search anything (and also trying to explain to my boyfriend why my home page opened up to a porn page). I was about to pay to have someone fix things, but luckily I found this program. Thank you, Micah 6:8, for your help. I will be letting others know of this program and I will be making a donation very soon!

P.S.- I already have a virus program, Spybot S&D and Ad-Aware. I thought I saw another program that bans certain spyware, etc., from being installed in the first place. What is the name and is it any good? Thank you again!!!

God job!

All the malware is gone from the log.

I thought I saw another program that bans certain spyware, etc., from being installed in the first place

Spywareguard and Spywareblaster are programs to help spyware from getting on your machine.

GOD bless!!!!

M68 :)

Items you may wish to consider to harden your defenses against future infections:

Read "How did I get infected in the first place?" here:

http://boards.cexx.org/viewtopic.php?t=957

Download IE-Spyad here:

https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/ehowes/www/resource.htm

IE-Spyad puts over 4000 known malicious web sites into IE's "restricted zone" to help prevent you from getting infected.

Check your browser settings here:

http://browsercheck.qualys.com/index.php

A series of "tests" (and suggested fixes) to help tweak IE's settings to help prevent infections when surfing the web.

Follow safe Internet practices:

1. Keep your virus definitions up to date, and scan your system regularly.

2. Don't open email, or download attachments from unrecognized email addresses.

3. Be careful when downloading email attachments, EVEN FROM PEOPLE YOU KNOW! Many virii, worms, and trojans infect a persons system then immeadiately spread themselves to the people in the infected persons addressbook via email attachments.

4. Be careful downloading files from the Internet. Scan all downloaded files with a reliable UP-TO-DATE antivirus program. Scan "zip" files BEFORE unzipping, and scan all unzipped files BEFORE USING THEM.

5. Keep your Windows and IE current with all the latest patches and updates.
(Personally, I'm NOT recommending SP2 for XP at this time)
