Hi and welcome to the forum. :D

You need to update both Windows XP and Internet Explorere as they are both well behind in updates. They are both missing Service Pack 1 which is leaving you open to all kinds of problems.

Service Pack 1 for XP

Please download and run Spybot & AdAware SE . Then follow the instructions in the link below to run.

Then do a virus scan here >>> Trend Micro

Siggyx, good morning, Thank you for you for the reply. The scan you received was a reboot after Spybot Search & Destroy and AdAware SE had been run. Trend Micro Housecall had also been run. Can't update at this time because computer does not link to any Microsoft sites. Windows was reinstalled and SP 1 should be there, it was downloaded after reinstalling XP. Each of the above mentioned sites is updated prior to scanning, or says it has been. I am not at the affected computer at this time but wanted to update you on what had been done in case it made a difference. I will doo all the above again as soon as I get to the computer with the problem. Thanks.

Ran the programs as directed, SpyBot came up with DSO exploit and several non-critical, AdAware SE had no critical and 5 negligable, Housecall was clean. Here is the post reboot scan.

Siggyx, First I cannot log on to Microsoft links, get blank page reguardless of the file name. hard time logging into virus sites unless already have program on computer. Example Panda does nothing when the icon is selected. Animation stops but there is no connection. Cannot send e-mail, can receive but not send. Cannot move files from one folder to another, write, copy, erase delete or any of the common things unless the computer makes up its mind to let me. Took another computer to down load HJT and numerous tries to finally get it to run. At first could not highlight the file for coping. Recently this has been allowed. I don't know whats happening, am really confussed. Any help will be greatly appericated. You were right SP1 is not on the computer but was downloaded after reinstalling XP aproximatly 3 months ago. The computer worked well until the first of Sept. when little things started happening. Nothing great, files would not open then would. No reason or cause noted. Thanks, Offfni

THEN

I would like you to download and run Trojan Hunter. It is free for 30 days. Let it fix what it finds.

Download Trojan Hunter(trial version).
Next go Hereand download the latest update zip file.
Install Trojan Hunter and make a note of the full path to the folder where it is installed, by default this is
X:\program files\TrojanHunter 3.8 (X is the drive Trojan Hunter is installed on, usually C).
After installation unzip the update file you downloaded to the installation folder you took note of.
Say "Yes to All" when you are asked about replacing files.
You have to completely shut down Trojan Hunter for the new files to be used.
Double click the desktop icon to restart Trojan Hunter, click to continue evaluation.
Click the "Full Scan" button on the upper left.

Thne reboot and post a new log please.

Hi, Siggyx
Tried all you suggested, here are the results in the order they were tried.

ca.com, able to enter site but would not scan. Screen went blank.
Housecall, able to scan nothing found. This is in residence on the computer.
Ravanantivirus, got to site but would not scan. nothing happened.
pcpitstop, enter site but would not scan. nothing happened.
pandascan, got to site but would not scan went to blank screen.
bitdefender, got to site, got blank screen when tried to scan.

Trojanhunter, down loaded and scanned both quick scan and full scan nothing found.

All above sites would not link from HJT. Entered all in address.

Ran EZantivirus scan since it is on the computer, nothing was found.

Did I mention I cannot minimize any sites without loosing them. There are no programs in the recent startup files on XP. For a long time could not copy and paste the HJT scan, just started allowing this.

Here is the last HJT scan post reboot.

Siggyx, Went to majorgeeks and downoaded the file, extracted to 96 mgs and was told when I tried to run it, it was not there. Down loaded again and save in place of and the same thing happened. Deleted the program, downloaded again, extracted again and was told the same thing. Ran CWShedder and nothing was found. I'm really confused now. offfni

Ok we may be going about this the hard way. If you have your IE security settings to high it will not allow and activex files to load. As well as that if you have a pop up blocker program it may well be blocking it also. So disable your security programs spysubtract for example and then try to go to Panda online scan. Let me know what happens please.

Siggyx, All internet settings are default. No popup blockers are activated I think. Was using google for popups but removed it or something did it is not there. Was not having trouble with popups. Shut down all programs I could find except for EZantivirus and Zonealarm. Panda links but just stops the animation when I try to scan. offfni
