Been having problems with a nagging virus. I have Spybot S&D, Norton Firewall, MCaffee and SpywareBlaster but doesn't seem to fix it. I keep getting a message from Norton that "t?skmgr.exe" keeps trying to access the internet. Creating a blocking rule in Norton doesnt seem to work at all.

following is the log, would appreciate any help! Thanks.

here is the most recent log (#3). everything seems to be working ok, but when i reboot my computer and windows is loaded, norton firewall pops up telling me that the "t?skmgr.exe" program is trying to access the internet. I have tried creating a rule for blocking it, but doesnt seem to work. (also i have to deny it access 3 to 4 times in a row before it tries to stop. any idea what this program is ?

hen reboot and post a new log.
I deletes the 04-KKU\.. line through the hijackthis program, but when i ran a search for the c:\WINDOWS\system32\t?skmgr.exe i got the following result: file location TASKMGR C:\I386 taskmgr C:\WINDOWS\$NtServicePackUnistall$ taskmgr C:\WINDOWS\system32 taskmgr C:\WINDOWS\SericePackfiles\i386 when i checked intot he c:\WINDOWS\system32 folder i could not find the t?skmgr.exe program - I did find TASKMAN and TASKMGR what's my next step ??
looked in the entire WINDOWS\system32 folder but could not find it. looked into the subfolders as well. the only thing close to it was the two listings i mentioned : TASKAM taskmgr
I just rebooted my computer - I launched ie and for the last 10 minues its been running and I have not gotten that rotten t?skmgr.exe trying to access the internet message. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed, but maybe it's gone.
latest log (#4) still got my fingers crossed. so far so good …

It's gone

If you dont have these three programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening. In my signature below is also a tutorial on how to harden IE, a good read and very helpful to stop these things in the future. I also have a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on.

Safe Surfing. :D
Glad we could help.
