Hello tmroberts80 and welcome to TomCoyote.

Download the newest version of HijackThis from here. Unzip it into a permanent folder such as C:hjt. It will make a back-up folder of anything fixed. The newer version may show another entry that will need to be fixed later. Delete the hijackthis.exe that you currently are using.

Scan with HijackThis version 1.98.2 and post the new log as a reply to this thread.

HijackThis needs to be in a permanent folder in order to save backups of anything fixed. Go to Start > My Computer and double click on C:, then in an open area, right click and choose New > folder and change the folder name to HJT. Extract HijackThis into this folder from your downloaded zip folder.

Download coolwebshredder from here to your desktop. Reboot the computer into safe mode (How to start computer in Safe Mode). Double click on the CWShredder.exe and click fix allowing it to fix all that it finds.

While still in safe mode, scan with HijackThis and check the following:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://super-spider.com/sp.htm?id=9

O4 - Global Startup: winlogin.exe
O20 - AppInit_DLLs: inewxefueoe5s3.dll

With only HijackThis running, click fix checked.

Still in safe mode, delete the following files:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\matrixhere.exe <<< file only
C:\WINDOWS\System32\176232034.exe <<< file only
inewxefueoe5s3.dll <<< Will need to search for this file
winlogin.exe <<< Will need to search for this file
{winlogin.exe - This file is a BAD file. Notice the i in that file makes it bad. The good file looks like this winlogon.exe and must not be removed.}

You may need to enable show all files to find them.

* Double-click My Computer.
* Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
* Click the View tab.
* Clear "Hide file extensions for known file types."
* Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
* Clear "Hide protected operating system files."
* Click Apply, and then click OK.

Reboot normally. Scan with HijackThis and post the new log as a reply to this thread. Be sure to include the header at the top of the log.

The "winlogin.exe" file has re-appeared again. We need to get rid of this.

Please try this:

Copy the text in the following quote box into notepad:

cd\
dir winlogin.exe /ah /s > flist.txt
dir winlogin.exe /s >> flist.txt
move flist.txt C:\Docume~1\Owner\desktop\flist.txt
pause

Save it to your desktop as "ff.bat".

Now, ff.bat

Close it when it says "Press any key to continue…"

It should make a file called "flist.txt" on the desktop.

Double click the "flist.txt" file, and copy/paste the contents into your next post.
It didn't put flist on the desktop so I did a search for it and found this. I'm not sure if it's the right file. Here it is: Volume in drive C is HPNOTEBOOK Volume Serial Number is 84AE-1189 Directory of C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup 10/28/2004 05:41 PM 0 winlogin.exe 1 File(s) 0 bytes Total Files Listed: 1 File(s) 0 bytes 0 Dir(s) 3,688,984,576 bytes free Volume in drive C is HPNOTEBOOK Thanks Toby
Download Killbox.zip

Extract it from the zip file then double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. In the 'Paste Full Path of File to Delete' box, copy and paste this entry:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\winlogin.exe

Don't click any of the buttons though, instead please click on the Action menu and choose "Delete on Reboot". In the window that opens up, click on the File menu and choose "Add File". The file should show up in the window.

Click on the Action menu and select "Process and Reboot". You'll be prompted to reboot, do so.
