Hi.

Most of the time that I have my computer on for over 30 minutes, it becomes extremely sluggish in every aspect. When I shut down, it says it is trying to quit rundll32.exe. When I click 'end now', or wait for it to end, it takes 3 minutes before the computer begins to shut down.

I have downloaded and ran SystemSecuritySuite 1.04.

I have gone to each of these sites and ran the scans (no problems found):
-TrendMicro HouseCall
-eTrust AntiVirus Web Scanner
-Panda ActiveScan

I have also ran adaware and spybot with the proper specifications.

Here is my log:

Run the this, save the log.

Download then unzip and run CWShredder to clean up clicking "FIX" to have it remove all it finds.

CWShredder available from these places :-

http://www.zerosrealm.com/downloads.php
Or this as a full download without any unzipping required
http://www.downloads.subratam.org/CWShredder.exe

Post the log and a new Hijack this log.
Little Eagle, The link that you posted for the removal tool doesn't seem to be working (it says 'file not found'). I checked on their removal tools page and wasn't able to find anything that had "avcen" in it. Could you repost the link? thanks a bunch, Eric
Little Eagle,

I clicked the last link you sent me, downloaded the tool (fixagentv1.0007), and ran the progam. It ran for about 10 seconds and then a small window popped up that said "No traces of TROJ_AGENT variant found."

I then ran CWShredder, and it said that nothing was infected.

I then ran HijackThis and the log is below.
–oh by the way, I found a strange program in my "download" folder for AIM the other day. Some random video of a cartoon cat. I've never used AIM to transfer files, so, I have no idea how that got there. Probably shouldn't have opened it.

Download System Security Suite. Extract it from the zip file into a folder.
http://www.igorshpak.net/software/3ssetup104.zip
Under "items to clear" click all. Then click "clear selected items"

Reboot and Rescan with HJT and post a new log here.
Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

I found a strange program in my "download" folder for AIM the other day. Some random video of a cartoon cat. I've never used AIM to transfer files, so, I have no idea how that got there. Probably shouldn't have opened it.

I'd clean out AIM also.

Not seeing anything wrong in the log.
Little Eagle,

I did as you said. The log is included below. My computer's behavior: after using for about 15-20 minutes, things begin to get sluggish - I usually first notice sluggishness on browsing on internet. All other aspects become slow as well: applications, closing and opening of folders, taskbar, etc, etc. When I shut down or restart, I get the rundll32.exe problem. And then it takes about 3 minutes before it begins to actually shut down. Problem persists.

Now that you have Spybot, Start Spybot click mode make sure that advanced mode is checked. Click tools>system startup to the right is a double arrow bar click it to expand. Now clicking on the value you will get a discription of command line. Remove the green check mark on the ones listed O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [S3TRAY2] S3Tray2.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [McAfeeUpdaterUI] "C:\Program Files\Network Associates\Common Framework\UpdaterUI.exe" /StartedFromRunKey Should you decide that you need or want them just place a checkmark back in the box. Rechecking anytime you think you need them Reboot, this completes the change.
