KaZaA is the premier music-sharing, peer-to-peer program.

On installation, KaZaA gives you the choice of setting the program for
automatic startup. So when Windows boots, KaZaA also starts. It is
running in the background. Whoever installed KaZaA probably has
accumulated a library of music on your machine. When KaZaA is running,
that library is available to others, assuming you're online. That's
a good way to get sued by the music industry.

According to the company, you should be able to remove KaZaA the normal
way. In Windows XP, click Start>>Control panel, then double-click
Add/Remove Programs. Find KaZaA in the list and click Change/Remove.

If you have Windows 2000, 98 or ME, click Start>>Settings>>Control
Panel. Double-click Add/Remove Programs. Find the program in the
listing and click Add/Remove (or Change/Remove in Windows 2000).

When followed this procedure, If you receive a warning
Right-clicked KaZaA's icon in the bottom-right
of the screen and chose an option to shut down KaZaA. I was then
able to remove the program.

However, KaZaA comes with other programs, variously known as adware or
spyware.

KaZaA also arrived with a MySearch toolbar, which attached itself
to Internet Explorer. I deleted that through the Add/Remove process.

Now, if after all this you still have Kazaa on your system, download
and run KazaaBegone. It's at the very bottom of this page:
