I have ran spybot scan and removal, verified current windows and explorer, verified java scripting enabled. ESPN.GO.Com will not enable. Read through another user with similar problem, however his hijack log and solution not posted for reading.
Here is hijack log:

Hello,

You're running HijackThis from a temporary directory. Please create a new folder on the C: drive and name it C:\HJT or something similar. You can do this by going to My Computer (Windows key+e) then double click on C: then right click and select "New" then "Folder" and name it HJT. Next, right click on the program, HijackThis.exe and select "cut." Then, open the new folder, right click on a blank space and select "paste." HijackThis will now be in its new folder.

Go to Add/Remove Programs in your Control Panel and uninstall MyBar, MyWay, and any other "search" and/or "toolbar" program that may look dubious.

NOTE: Please print a copy of these instructions because you will be working in Safe Mode and/or with all windows closed except HijackThis.

Please run HijackThis in Safe Mode….

Reboot into safe mode, this way:
Restart the computer
Immediately begin tapping the <F8> key.
Use the arrow keys to highlight Safe Mode and press the <Enter> key.

Also, enable the ”Show Hidden Files and Folders” option:
Click Start.
Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

Place a check mark next to the following items then, WITH ALL OTHER WINDOWS CLOSED, select “fix checked.”

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://srch-us5.hpwis.com/

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = localhost

O2 - BHO: MyWay Search Assistant BHO - {04079851-5845-4dea-848C-3ECD647AA554} - C:\Program Files\MyWay\SrchAstt\1.bin\MYSRCHAS.DLL

O2 - BHO: myBar BHO - {0494D0D1-F8E0-41ad-92A3-14154ECE70AC} - C:\Program Files\MyWay\myBar\1.bin\MYBAR.DLL

O3 - Toolbar: &SearchBar - {0494D0D9-F8E0-41ad-92A3-14154ECE70AC} - C:\Program Files\MyWay\myBar\1.bin\MYBAR.DLL

O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {2CDE1A7D-A478-4291-BF31-E1B4C16F92EB} - (no file)

Now, search for, and delete the following:

C:\Program Files\MyWay\ <<<— Folder

Please delete your temporary files by deleting all files and folders that are in those folders (do not delete the temp folder itself) like for example:

C:\WINDOWS\Temp\

C:\Temp\

C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp\

Also delete your Temporary Internet Files, be sure to also select "delete all offline content."

Empty your Recycle Bin.

Reboot into normal mode.

Proceed to the Windows Update site (see link below) download and install ALL critical updates.

Reboot when finished.

If you are not running version 1.3 of Spybot S & D, click here to download Spybot Search & Destroy v1.3 - install, update, reboot into Safe Mode, scan and fix all RED checked items it finds. Reboot into normal mode when done.

Perform a custom Ad-aware scan in Safe Mode……..

If you do not have the latest version of Ad-aware SE Personal, Build 1.05, click here to download Ad-Aware and install. Before scanning click on "check for updates now" to make sure you have the latest reference file. Then boot into Safe Mode, start the program, and click the gear wheel at the top and check these options to configure Ad-aware for a customized scan:

Under "General Settings" all available options should be selected.

Click the "Scanning" button.
Under "Drives, Folders and Files," select "Scan within Archives".
Click "Drives and folders to scan" and select your installed hard drives.
Under "Memory & Registry," select all options.

Click the "Advanced" button.
Under "Logfile detail level," select all options.

Click the "Defaults" button.
Under "Default IE Pages" set the "Default homepage" and "Default search page" to what you want them to be; otherwise, Ad-aware will reset them. Do not select the option to "Read current settings from system"… manually fill in the desired web address for each. (For instance, if you want Google as your search page, fill in www.google.com in the "Default search page" field).

Click the "Tweak" button.
Under "Scanning Engine," select the following:
"Unload recognized processes during scanning."
Under "Cleaning Engine," select the following:
"Always try to unload modules before deletion."
"During removal unload Explorer and IE if necessary."
"Let Windows remove files in use after reboot."
Click on "Proceed" to save these Preferences.

Run the Ad-Aware scan, making sure that the mode selected is "Use custom scanning options."

When the scan is finished, the screen will tell you if anything has been found, click "Next." The bad files will be listed, right click the pane and click "Select all objects" - this will put a check mark in the box at the side, click "Next" again and click "OK" at the prompt "# objects will be removed. Continue?" Reboot into normal mode when finished.

Next, perform online virus and Trojan scans, using the links in my signature below. Allow the programs to delete all that they may find. Reboot after each scan.

Scan with HijackThis and post a fresh log into this same thread.
I performed all of the tasks you requested. Still cannot get ESPN.GO.COM website to come up. Here is new Hijack:

Hello,

Well, I can't say that I'm too surprised that this bit of cleaning up didn't solve your problem, although you never know until you try. It was unlikely that what you had on your system would have blocked web sites from loading, especially since it's only one web site and that site is not related to malware removal in any way. Generally speaking, if malware is going to block sites, it will block sites that help eradicate malware.

If you haven't done it already, see if deleting all cookies related to ESPN's site might help. Also, make sure that you have not accidentally restricted access to that site, either in your browser or your firewall. Did this problem exhibit itself before you installed SP2?

As an experiment, you might try downloading and installing Mozilla's Firefox and see if you're able to access the site that way.

On the upside, your log is clean now, so this would be a good time to clear out your system restore points and set a new clean one….

Turn off System Restore.

Right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Reboot.

Turn ON System Restore.

Right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Un-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Set a new system restore point.

You can also download IE-SPYAD here: https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/ehowes/www/resource.htm

It will place over 5000 sites in your restricted zone so that you don't accidentally visit innocent appearing sites that aren't really innocent.

Scan often with Spybot Search and Destroy and Ad-aware to remove malware before it gains a foothold on your computer. (Links below). Install SpywareBlaster and SpywareGuard to keep baddies from invading your system. (Links below).

Make sure you keep your system updated by frequent visits to the Windows Update site (see link below). Always install ALL critical updates.

Please take a minute or two to read the short article, "How did I get infected in the first place?" (See link in my signature below). You will find good information on keeping your system clean in the future, as well as links for excellent free anti-spyware tools.
Just thought I would let you know I have given up on this problem. I downloaded Mozilla Firefox and espn.go.com works fine. It is just Internet Explorer that does not work with it. I have found information that other users have this identical problem with espn.go.com but have yet to find a recorded solution. If you ever hear of one feel free to post it.. One more possible connection I also get the about:blank error page in internet explorer when I try to vote in CNN polls, however in Mozilla Firefox I do not get the about:blank error. May be a connection.
Hello, I'm glad you're able to access the ESPN site via Firefox. I thought that might be the case. As for the CNN polls, I have exactly the same issue on a malware-free XP machine if I use IE. However, everything functions fine in Firefox. In my case, this issue may have developed after an MS update. Also, my security settings are set to be as secure as possible. Regardless, I prefer Firefox anyway because it doesn't use activeX, it loads faster, and I really like the tabbed browsing. Thanks for the update. :) If I come across another solution, I'll be sure to post it.
