hello alwaysmyforever,

I would limit the time you spend online until your computer is cleaned up
make sure HJT is in its own folder.

you need to visit windows update and get all >critical updates< and service packs (at least service pack1)
go here: http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp
windows will scan your computer to see what you need

Is your Antivirus app (avast) upto date?
—————————————————————————————————

after the above do a online scan or two at any of these:

http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/default…id=ie&venid=sym

http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/co…n_principal.htm

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp

http://www.bitdefender.com/scan/licence.php

http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/virusinfo/scan.aspx
———————————————————————————————–
look in add/ remove program panel and uninstall if present: SearchBar

also do a online trojan scan at these two;

http://scan.sygatetech.com/pretrojanscan.html
http://www.windowsecurity.com/trojanscan/
————————————————————————————————
download, update and run Spybot search and destroy:
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html
————————————————————————————————-

Have Hijack This fix all of the following by placing a check in the appropriate boxes and hitting fix checked. Make sure all browsers and all Windows Explorer windows are closed before fixing.

O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) - http://software-dl.real.com/20b4cd98589942…ip/RdxIE601.cab

O16 - DPF: {9EB320CE-BE1D-4304-A081-4B4665414BEF} (MediaTicketsInstaller Control) - http://www.mt-download.com/MediaTicketsInstaller.cab

also cleaar temps:
Empty Temp folders. Go to Start > Run and type:cleanmgr. Windows will scan. When done check these 3 and press *ok* to remove:

Temporary Files
Temporary Internet Files
Recycle Bin

afterwards post a new HJT log, there will be more to do…….
I did the scans and everything else. Windows Update failed in the installatin of HTTP 5.1 Background Intelligence. This is the new log.

hello alwaysmyforever,

lets get rid of some of the malware, then we will try windows update again.there will be alot of finding and deleting files in safe mode. you may also have a peper trojan which will require another tool to download.
first look in add/remove programs panel and uninstall anything you dont use or recgonize, like any toolbars, search "helpers" etc, if your not sure ask first.
ok next;

Make sure computer is set to show all files:
double click my computer go to tools>folder options. click the view tab and make sure show hidden files and folders is checked. also uncheck hide protected operating system files and untick hide extensions for known file types. now click apply to all folders. click apply then ok.

next reboot into SAFE MODE (tap F5 Key at start up, Chose SAFE MODE, may take few min to get to desktop.

ok once in safe mode run HJT and place a check to the following entries, then press "fix Checked"

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Rleasg9Zn] C:\documents and settings\jason harrell\local settings\temp\Rleasg9Zn.exe

C:\Documents and Settings\Jason Harrell\Application Data\raec.exe

attempt to find and delete the above XYZ.exe files
afterwards post a new HJT log, how are things running on your end? are we making any progress? there will be more to do, iam not at home so i dont have access to all my "tools" have you tried the windows update site again?
I downloaded Peper Fix and it said that I didn't find any traces on my computer. I just tried to do the Windows Update again, but the Update for Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) 2.0 and WinHTTP 5.1 (KB842773) still fails. This is the new HijackLog. Yes, I think we're making great progress. I don't get fifteen of the annoying pop-ups now when I start my computer.

Currently, I"m having a problem with internet explorer where it's not allowing me to alter the security settings in internet options, and all of the graphics aren't loading when visiting websites.
ok lets keep at it,

look in add/remove panel and uninstall spyware doctor, there are many suspect spyware removers and iam not familiar with that one. stick with spybot search and destroy. you may also want to try (free trial version) giant software here:
http://www.giantcompany.com/(g50pzi55dmhxs…ntispyware.aspx

it is not well known but its very good at removing malware others leave behind, try it.
ok on to that log!

same procedure, make sure files are set to show, boot into safe mode, we will be more aggressive this time:

Check the following items in HiJackThis:
Close all open windows except HiJackThis and press 'Fix Checked'

ok now search for and delete these;

chsbrkr5.exe>> delete just that file in C:\WINDOWS\System32
loatcomm.exe>> ' "" "" C:\WINDOWS\System32
pscfg.exe>> " " " C:\WINDOWS\System32

now delete the >>entire folder<< for these:

Spyware Doctor>> (if you have uninstalled it from add/remove panel, otherwise leave it) in C:\Program Files\

CxtPls>> in C:\Program Files
AutoUpdate>> in C:\Program Files

if you have automatic updates enabled for windows update, try disabling it then go to the windows update web site:
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp

some info;
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=842773

afterwards post a new HJt log………………shelf life
I deleted Spyware Doctor and installed the other program. It seems to work great. I believe that that Background Intelligence from Windows Update has also been installed. My internet settings seem fine, but the only thing is that i'm not being allowed to go to my Internet Options and change the "Security" settings. It's set on "Medium," which I'm sure is fine, I just don't know why the "Custom Level" and "Default Level" buttons aren't allowing me to open them. This is the new log.

log looks much better. the internet options problem could be a left over from some malware. we will work on that. first lets try to get windows updated. do you have automatic updates turned on? from the desktop right click on My Computer, select properties then the Automatic Updates tab.

also could you go to this web site (to check two files)
http://www.ravantivirus.com/scan/indexn.php

and using the browse button, find these two (both are in C:\WINDOWS\System32)
find the file, click on it, then open, then Scan Now button, make a note of the scan results

mod3.exe
drivers.exe

you get this msg:
Update for Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) 2.0 and WinHTTP 5.1 (KB842773)

when you go to the windows update site? did you install this? look in add/remove programs panel and see if it can be uninstalled, but dont uninstall it yet…..
I dowloaded the file from the website and installed it. It's in the Programs list now. No infections were found for mod3.exe. As for drivers.exe, i got this: File Upload failed! - Nothing to scan. Also, i've noticed that when i leave the internet for about 30 minutes or so, I have to reboot my computer in order to use the internet or messengers like aim/yahoo.
hello again,

Update for Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) 2.0 and WinHTTP 5.1 (KB842773) – this is used for the automatic updates in XP–

could you check and see if automatic updates is on or off. right click my computer, properties then automatic updates tab., if its turned on>> then turn it off and try the windows update site again.

lets try this to, go here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/default.mspx

click on>> Latest Critical Updates then under >Interent Explorer 6< click on
>Get Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 (SP1) which takes you to another page.

underneath this>> Download Internet Explorer 6 SP1<< click on >download center< link. which finally takes you to the download site! download and install that should take care of updates for Internet explorer.

also when you right click a file does the option to scan it with Avast appear?, if so find the :drivers.exe in C:\WINDOWS\System32 and scan it.
I installed the SP1. I did not see drivers.exe, but I'll keep looking. Also, the spyware programs you gave me are great, but I'm still getting spyware daily on my computer. I think I may know the problem, but I'm not sure. About a month ago, someone told me to either disable or delete "server." I forgot where i went in my computer to do that. But maybe that's making my vulnerable to these threats. I'm on a LAN and other computers aren't getting as many threats as I am. Maybe it happened when I disabled/deleted "server." Do you think so?? If so, how would I go about getting it back?? Thanks for all your help.
hello again, good, you got SP1. post a new HJT log, there could still be something we need to get rid of thats causing the problems, hopefully it will show in the log……..
