hello groutman,

You have at least two worms,
i dont recognize a resident AV scanner, first do a online scan or two at one of these:

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp

http://www.bitdefender.com/scan/licence.php

http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/virusinfo/scan.aspx

http://www.mwti.net/antivirus/free_utilities.asp

A free resident AV scanner(AVG free edition) http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_index.php

after… post a new HJT log…………
OK, I did what you told me to do and found 21 virus'
Here is my log now.

hello groutman,

good job. you still got a worm see link:

http://www.sophos.com/virusinfo/analyses/w32forbotl.html

first try this online scanner: http://www.mwti.net/antivirus/free_utilities.asp

next:
Make sure your PC is configured to show hidden files

Open Windows Explorer & Go to Tools > Folder Options. Click on the View tab and make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked. Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and untick "hide extensions for known file types" . Now click "Apply to all folders"
Click "Apply" then "OK"

Reboot your PC into SAFE MODE (tap F5 key at start up, chose safe mode)
or see link:
How to start the computer in Safe mode
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgen…001052409420406

Scan with HijackThis and place an check next to the following entries, then press *fix checked*

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Systesms.exe] Systesms.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Microsoft Update Machine] wuamgrd.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Win32 USB2.0 Driver] w32usb2.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Win32 USB2.0 Driver] w32usb2.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [Win32 USB2.0 Driver] w32usb2.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Systesms.exe] Systesms.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Win32 USB2.0 Driver] w32usb2.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\RunOnce: [Win32 USB2.0 Driver] w32usb2.exe

attempt to find the above 04 .exe files and delete them
there are instruction on the Sophos website.

Once you're clean, you should delete your system restore files and create a new restore point, the links below tell you how.

http://www.pchell.com/virus/systemrestore.shtml

also suggest ad aware: http://www.lavasoft.de/
and spybot search and destroy: http://security.kolla.de

shelf life
I found the following files. I'm not sure if I should delete them: Systesms.exe.mwt C:\WINDOWS\System32 WUAMGRD.EXE-1FECDEFD.pf C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch Are they ok? Or should I zap them?
hello groutman, just to make sure- run them through AVG. find the files again then right click>then scan with AVG., or just scan the entire folder……..shelf life
hello groutman, actually you can delete them if they are in the>prefetch folder<. windows keeps track of recently used apps in this folder. overtime the folder could get big, so its agood idea to delete the files in there, or at least the older ones……….
