So, you do not agree to your email going to a Gmail account to be scanned. How are you combating people from using their work email which is scanned also?

It's not only the scanning, it's also unknown Google ads.

I am not trying to be a PITA, but I am trying to understand the reasoning for this. From Google's EULA I see nothing that is different than hotmail or any other free email. The fact of the matter is that email, while implied and thought to be confidential, is anything but. ISP's backup email and it lives on tape indefinitely. I have told my friends/family/customers to not put anything into email that you dont want known to the world because it is NOT secure. I look forward to hearing from TC and hope he is feeling better.

I don't understand either that comment, which is uncalled for, or this stance.

I mean, for all anyone knows, you could be surveyed and wiretapped by the FBI and nobody would know.

Doinshots has a point. This is no different than any other program which scans email. Spam detectors do this. Workplaces do it.

And besides, how else do you expect Google to pay for 2.5+GB of space?

Personal experience: I never pay attention to the ads anyway. I usually don't know that they're there.
