I have been trying to fix this computer for weeks and it seems like it just gets worse, here is my hijack this log

You have the Peper Trojan. It is a very stubborn infection which requires a specific tool to remove. There are two tools available. Please follow these instructions in order:

1. Download Newuninst.exe.

2. Run it with an active internet connection.

3. Reboot to finish removing the entries it found.

4. Run the tool a second time (with an active internet connection).

5. Reboot to finish removing the entries it found.


The second tool which does not require Internet Access to Clean is:

1. Please Download PeperFix.exe,

2. Start the tool and click Find and Fix.

3. Reboot to finish removing what it found.

4. Run the tool a second time (again with an active internet connection).

5. Reboot to finish removing the entries.

Once that is done,

Go here and run online scans (all), allow them to delete whatever they find:

TrendMicro HouseCall
eTrust AntiVirus Web Scanner
Panda ActiveScan
Note any thing that can't be fixed

Create a folder where you would like the HijackThis file to reside. It is important that you download this file to its own folder as this folder will be used when HijackThis makes backups. If you run it out of a compressed file, like a zip file, instead of running it from a directory, the backups will not be made.

Please unzip Hijack this by a right click on the zipped folder click extract all here. Then delete the folder with the zipper on it.

Then Download System Security Suite. Extract it from the zip file into a folder.

seems to be running pretty good, way faster…i am hoping that will rid me of all the popups….had to re d/l xp about 3 weeks ago as i had the newdotnet file and could not get rid of it for anything…do you see anything that still needs fixing? the windows automatic update thing is still coming back when i sign on or is that supposed to be there…i really appreciate all the help you have given me so far

Now that you have Spybot, Start Spybot click mode make sure that advanced mode is checked.
Click tools>system startup to the right is a double arrow bar click it to expand.
Now clicking on the value you will get a discription of command line.
Remove the green check mark on the ones listed

Microsoft Works Update Detection= C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Works Shared\WkUFind.exe
Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\OSA.EXE
SvcSystemProcess= c:\windows\system32\glnpbft.exe

Should you decide that you need or want them just place a checkmark back in the box.
Any of unknown status can be unchecked one by one reboot, this completes the change.

still running good..i keep checking in internet options to make sure the third party browser box is still unchecked and it is so all is good so far…is there something i can do to keep all that stuff off the compiter so i dont have to go through so much everytime to remove it? seems like everytime i let my daughter on she is messing up something…thank you for all your help…i do need to go back to spybot and uncheck another box because i think i unchecked the wrong micr works as there was two and it is still popping up other than that all is good…thanks again!!!!

Please read through the ideas and free software listed below that will help to keep your computer clean.
Some of these you may have install or may have done already.

Install a firewall.ZoneAlarm FREE

Ensure that an Antivirus is updated weekly and running. AVG antivirus from Grisoft is a very good FREE antivirus program.

Make sure you have the latest critical updates from windows update.
I would hold off on Service Pack 2

SpywareBlaster will prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.

IE-SPYAD puts over 4000 known 'bad' sites into your IE restricted zone so that they cannot install malware on your PC.

Google toolbar has a very good built in popup blocker with a nice search bar. To provide privacy, select disable advanced features when installing.

Check your system for latest virus definitions with an online virus scan.
TrendMicro HouseCall
eTrust AntiVirus Web Scanner
Panda ActiveScan

Check your system for latest trojan definitions with an Online trojan scan
