Greetings and welcome to TomCoyote.org!

Let's get rid of that Winsock hijack first.

To do that, do these steps:

1. Download and run: http://www.cexx.org/LSPFix.exe
2. Check 'I know what I'm doing'.
3. Select all instances of 'cdlsp.dll'.
4. Click the right-pointing arrow.
5. Click 'Finished'.
6. Restart your computer. Verify your Internet connection is working.

Please make a PERMANANT folder for Hijack This!

Important: Create a folder on the C: drive called C:HJT.
You can do this by going to My Computer (Windows key+e) then double click on C: then right click and select New then Folder and name it HJT.
MOVE HijackThis into this folder.
If required a tutorial is here = Hijackthis Folder Tutorial

CLOSE ALL WINDOWS (even this one) AND PROGRAMS!!!!

Run Hijack This! and fix these items:

Your windows and IE are both missing patches and upgrades.

I strongly urge you to visit the windows update site and upgrade your IE and windows to SP1, I don't recommend SP2 for XP yet.
This is the problem, I have a legit copy of XP, and I went through Run to type in my Product Key, it didn't read it or whatever so I'm $%^&ed….and I've decided not to use IE due to the fact that it is script based, netscape is not. Thank you for all your help and I'll take care of the rest :) -Gollond
Although I am wondering, is there any preference in a personal Firewall? I've used Sygate in the past and I didn't like it AT ALL, I also don't want to use Zone Alarm. I looked up Tiny Firewall 6.0 and I have issues downloading it, I tried the 32bit and 64bit version and neither of them would install. Any tips? -Gollond
I'm sorry.. I've not used anything but Norton Internet Security, so I'm not a good person to ask about firewalls… Sorry to hear about your problems registering XP. :( Another browser that is highly touted as a replacment for IE is Mozilla Firefox. I have Netscape (Actually, 3 versions of it) available on my machine (besides IE) because I do web pages and I want to be sure they display correctly using Netscape. Personally, I think it's pretty slow.. But what the hay.. That's just my opinion. :) GOD bless!!! M68 :)
Yea, I got Firefox as my back-up browser right now, so I don't have to rely on IE anymore, I used to use Norton, but the thing practically integrates itself into every aspect of your computer, and I got really tired of having to guy buy a new one every year. Now I run Ad-Aware SE and Spybot S&D, the only problem is finding a good firewall so that the viruses/others stop coming in. >.< -Gollond
