This entry is very suspicious:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [dbrun] C:\WINDOWS\Cursors\dbrun.exe

Do you know what it does?

If you do not know what it does, you should investigate and find out what it is for.

Reboot in "safe" mode. Use the link in my signature to tell you how if necessary.

Find and delete:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\bebmw.dll <— file

C:\WINDOWS\System32\bebmwc.exe <— file

C:\documents and settings\cristina\local settings\temp\6rSar6jnI.exe <— file

C:\documents and settings\cristina\local settings\temp\QJjNqG.exe <— file

C:\Program Files\TV Media <— FOLDER

suboclc.exe <— file
(Use windows explorer to find. Can't tell from log what folder it is in)

Some malware files may be "hidden". Use the link in my signature to explain how to show "hidden" files if necessary.

Reboot in normal mode and post a new log file. :)
Thank you for your help. I am posting a new log below. i was able to find some refereces on the dbrun.exe in Yahoo relating to data base items. I have left it for now. Hopefully the log is looking better.

Well… In some respects the log is better (most of the malware is gone).

However, some new malware items have arrived. :(

First, uninstall "Ezula" via the "Add/Remove Programs" in the windows control panel. This program is considered "adware", and may even be "spyware".

Reboot to complete the process.

I'd like you to run Spybot and Adaware one more time with these instructions:

download and run Spybot-Search&Destroy and Ad-Aware; they are the standard programs for finding and cleaning malware off your system.  Here are links to both programs, and instructions for their use.

Get Spybot - Search & Destroy from http://security.kolla.de  (This is the NEW Version 1.3)
Get AdAware 6 from http://www.lavasoft.de/support/download

Download and install these programs in their own PERMANENT folders if you don't already have them. If you do have them, make sure they are UPDATED AND CONFIGURED AS DESCRIBED.

To run Spybot S&D:

After installing first press "Online", click on "Search for Updates", then select all updates.  Beside the download button is a little down-pointed arrow, which gives you a choice of several download sites; select one of the servers listed (the Australian server usually works well).  Now, press "Download Updates." If that site doesn't work or you get an error message, try a different server.

When the updates are finished, close your browser and ALL WINDOWS EXCEPT THE ONE SPYBOT IS RUNNING IN, then press 'Check for Problems'; THE SCAN WILL TAKE SEVERAL MINUTES.  Have SpyBot remove all it finds THAT ARE MARKED IN RED.  When it's finished, REBOOT your system.

Get AdAware 6 from http://www.lavasoft.de/support/download

Then, Run ADAWARE:

Before you scan with AdAware, ALWAYS check for updates of the reference file by using the "webupdate" button at the lower right of the panel. Updates for this program come out frequently to keep up with new malware.  THIS IS CRITICAL; updating is as important as installing these programs.

Then ……..
Make sure the following settings are made and on ——-"ON=GREEN"
From main window :Click "Start" then " Activate in-depth scan"

then……
click "Use custom scanning options>Customize" and have these options ON: "Scan within archives" ,"Scan active processes","Scan registry", "Deep scan registry" ,"Scan my IE Favorites for banned URL" and "Scan my host-files"

then………
go to settings(the gear icon on top of AdAware)>Tweak>Scanning engine and click "Unload recognized processes during scanning" ………..then…….."Cleaning engine" and  "Let windows remove files in use at next reboot"

then…… click "proceed" to save your settings.
To scan, click NEXT.  This scan will also take several minutes.

When the scan is finished, mark everything for removal and get rid of it. (Right-click the window and choose"select all" from the drop down menu) then press "next" and then say YES to the prompt, "do you want to remove all these entries?"  Reboot again.

After running them, fix any of these that are left over:

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [eZmmod] C:\PROGRA~1\ezula\mmod.exe

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Ywp7RQcqT] tourpres.exe

Reboot and post a new log file. :)

I'm still concerned about the "dbrun.exe" file.

I'd like you to go here:

http://www.kaspersky.com/scanforvirus

And submit this file:

C:\WINDOWS\Cursors\dbrun.exe

For a viral examination. Let me know the results.
I was able to remove more items with Adware custom settings. I am surprised that the laptop was working at all, more then 600 items were removed over the course of 4 days using Adware and Spybot. I removed DBrun.exe through hijackthis as it was no longer on the drive. Here is the latest log, it seems to look better:

That is an "optional" fix.

Close all windows and programs!

Fix this for sure:

The first time I cleaned malware from my daughters PC, it totaled 5 MB (megabytes).

That stuff can really accumulate.

Reboot, and post a new log file. :)
I removed the one item and it looks good! :D I also ran adware one more time it came out clean! First time on this laptop. Here is the last log:

Good work!!!

The log is good now.

I'll leave you with my list of hings to consider to help prevent future infections.

GOD bless!!

M68 :)

Items you may wish to consider to harden your defenses against future infections:

Read "How did I get infected in the first place?" here:

http://boards.cexx.org/viewtopic.php?t=957

Download IE-Spyad here:

https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/ehowes/www/resource.htm

IE-Spyad puts over 4000 known malicious web sites into IE's "restricted zone" to help prevent you from getting infected.

Check your browser settings here:

http://browsercheck.qualys.com/index.php

A series of "tests" (and suggested fixes) to help tweak IE's settings to help prevent infections when surfing the web.

Follow safe Internet practices:

1. Keep your virus definitions up to date, and scan your system regularly.

2. Don't open email, or download attachments from unrecognized email addresses.

3. Be careful when downloading email attachments, EVEN FROM PEOPLE YOU KNOW! Many virii, worms, and trojans infect a persons system then immeadiately spread themselves to the people in the infected persons addressbook via email attachments.

4. Be careful downloading files from the Internet. Scan all downloaded files with a reliable UP-TO-DATE antivirus program. Scan "zip" files BEFORE unzipping, and scan all unzipped files BEFORE USING THEM.

5. Keep your Windows and IE current with all the latest patches and updates.

M68, Thank you for all of you help. The laptop belongs to my friends daughter, a second year student at college. The assistance you provided has saved her so much, funds that now may go towards books. I will make sure see reads the links and keeps her system updated. God bless you for your help, thank you again. Mike
