Greetings, all,
I am on an hp Pavilion, a little less than four years old. It is suffering from frequent crashes & bsod. I was able to get the stop code from the most recent one: "ATTEMPTED WRITE TO READONLY MEMORY".
hp has some diagnostics that I ran but they all came out clean/PASSED:
Storage Health Monitor, Battery Health Monitor, Long Drive Self-Test, Disk Read Verify, Video Extended Memory Check, IRQ Test, Wireless IRQ Test, ROM Test, Wireless ROM Test, CPU Stress Test, Battery Check, BIOS-System Firmware Update.
What other information would you like to know? How do you suggest I proceed?
TIA,
1695814

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

Hello,
Here's the url: http://speccy.pirifo...jLxiHzigF3L1rlo
I've attached the zip file. Also, if it makes a difference, the laptop is actually a little less than 4 years old. I originally mistakenly stated it was only 2.
Thank you!

Hello 1695814,
Looked at Speccy and noticed a couple of things, high memory usage, updates were failing to install and the Windows Power Plan is set to HP Recommended which may not give you enough power to support the dedicated GPU.
The crash dmps are too old so as to be of any use, explanation, unless repetitive crash dmps more than a couple of days old cannot be relied upon, reason for this is because things are being updated all of the time and any problem that was being encountered but is no longer may have actually been corrected by a recently installed update, this does actually tie in with what we can see in your crash dmps and Speccy report as in updates were failing to install in the same period of time as the crashes happened and when updates started installing again your crashes are shown to have stopped.
We need to see if you get any more, if you do, upload just the latest crash dmps as soon as you can and we will get on it.
Just a fyi, there were three things flagged up in the crash dmps that were provided, CPU drivers a couple of times, video drivers once and desktop windows manager a couple of times, the on die video from the CPU is associated with each so lets see if the CPU drivers cause you any further problems.

Okay, thank you for your help.
As I originally wrote up my reply, the computer completely froze - no mouse movement or keyboard action, so I resorted to a hard shut down.
After rebooting, it restored my chrome pages & I attempted to write it up again. This time, however, I eventually got a bsod, so I've run another speccy & posted the link in the previous post.
I was going to mention that the hp website has this computer registered as a Windows 10 even though it's been upgraded to Windows 11. Thus, when I try to find any driver updates & such, hp is of no help. The Windows Update, however, is up to date. It has nothing outstanding.
Again, thank you for your help.

No need for a Speccy url atm but we do need the latest crash dmp if you can upload that for us.

Okay, thank you for your patience. In my haste to get something uploaded before it crashed again I forgot about the crash dmp.
In the meantime, it's crashed a few times since then. I've attached two dmp files because in my attempt to upload the 70312 file I got another bsod and then, as it was rebooting, the computer displayed a "Fixing (C:) Stage 1: k% (m of n); Total: l% ETA: h:mm:ss." so I figured I'd run another Speccy & get another .dmp file in case it's useful.
Regards,
###

Two different causes, Windows Error Reporting and hpdskflt.sys which concerns HP mobile data protection filter, the latter is a security concern.
Noticed that you use CCleaner, what do you use it for.
Do you have any important data on the SSD.
Tip
If using a computer and not a mobile phone, please avoid adding multiple posts while waiting for us to reply to your last, edit your last post to include anything that you wish to add, this will ensure nothing gets overlooked which can sometimes happen if a thread has more than one page.

When I downloaded Speccy, it prompted me to first download CCleaner. So far, I haven't used it for anything but it has suggested deleting junk files.
As for important data on the SSD, most of it is uploaded to OneDrive...but there are some documents & a number of programs/apps that are not.

Never had that with Speccy before but will advise that you do not use CCleaner unless you are advised to, the registry cleaning part in particular.
Suggest that you back up anything that you need as soon as you can as you may need to start afresh with a reset of Windows immediately followed by installing the system drivers in the correct order, the steps required can be provided as soon as you let us know that all you personal data is securely backed up.

Can you post the exact model name or number of the computer so that we can find the drivers for you.
