Hiya guys!  Hope everyone is well since my last visit!

Running Win 8.1 Pro (62 bit with 32 bit for old programs) on a Surface Pro 3 with i3 core and 4 gig RAM.  I use Spybpt S&D;, Avast, and CCleaner regularly.

Okay, so many of my fonts aren't working (they default to others like Arial) so I was trying to find the discs to reload them when I came across 'cbstemp/' in my Windows directory.  I've been having trouble with Photoshop using too much memory no matter what drive I assign as the scratch drive as well, and Malwarebytes when I use it has just been claiming to scan '0 bytes' so…I think there's something a bit funny here!  Over the last few months I did download some free fonts from the same site Zazzle gets theirs', signed up with Twinspires.com for a bit o' playing with the ponies (aka betting on horse racing), and also downloaded and installed LastPass.  All through Firefox, aside from Twinspires.com which I use via Chrome.

As always, hope that makes sense.  Here are my logs:

Hi and welcome.

As far as seeing something right off I didn't.

I did see a Firefox extension related to fonts
FF Extension: (Theme Font & Size Changer) - C:\Users\Christine\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\pnoorcdr.default-1442637247380\Extensions\{f69e22c7-bc50-414a-9269-0f5c344cd94c}.xpi [2017-06-17]

Possibly, if you remove this extension, reboot, experiment to see if the fonts return?

Okay…first things first.  I didn't remove the Firefox extension, because it allows me to see the tiny tiny text on websites like this. ;)  I also rechecked the availability of the system fonts to Photoshop and Jarte…and they seem to be fine now for some reason.  Maybe they were hosed up because of the memory problem that PS was having.  I did notice after the first scans that CCleaner was suddenly finding a lot more crap than it had before running them.

But…malware still cropped up in the scans like the hidden evil codes they are!  I did make a mistake with FRST64 and ran it twice, since it asked to update the first time and I thought that's all it did, so it may have caught something but won't show it here.  Also Zemana didn't give me a choice, it went directly into downloading and asked me to install it in my Windows/Program Files(x86) directory.

Glad things seem to return to normal….no idea what was holding that up.

Couple of more scan to check for remnants.

Please download the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware setup file to your Desktop.

OR from this location Here
  • Open mbam-setup.x.x.xxxx.exe (x represents the version #) and follow the prompts to install the programme.
  • Windows Vista, Windows 7 , 8, 8.1 and 10 : Right click and select "Run as Administrator"
    [external image: MBAM3_zpsw0f8rn9n.jpg]
  • Install the program and select update, it might update for you with no option and if it does this is normal.

  • Under SETTINGS…..APPLICATIONS leave everything at default
  • Under SETTINGS…..PROTECTION make sure AUTOMATIC QUARANTINE is on.
  • Then go to the Dashboard and click on SCAN NOW
  • Make sure to select THREAT SCAN
  • Then click on Scan
    If threats are detected, click the Apply Actions button. You will now be prompted to reboot. Click Yes.

    Upon completion of the scan (or after the reboot), click the Reports tab.
    Double-click the Scan Log. Find the date of the scan you just run.
    At the bottom click Export and choose Text file.

    Save the file to your desktop and include its content in your next reply.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Emsisoft Emergency Kit
  • Please download Emsisoft Emergency Kit and save it to your desktop. Double click on the EmsisoftEmergencyKit file you downloaded to extract its contents and create a shortcut on the desktop. Leave all settings as they are and click the Extract button at the bottom. A folder named EEK will be created in the root of the drive (usually c:\).
  • After extraction please double-click on the new Start Emsisoft Emergency Kit icon on your desktop.
  • The first time you launch it, Emsisoft Emergency Kit will recommend that you allow it to download updates. Please click Yes so that it downloads the latest database updates.
  • When update is complete, click Malware Scan. When asked if you want the scanner to scan for Potentially Unwanted Programs, click Yes. Emsisoft Emergency Kit will start scanning.
  • When the scan is completed click Quarantine selected objects. Note, this option is only available if malicious objects were detected during the scan.
  • When the threats have been quarantined, click the View report button in the lower-right corner, and the scan log will be opened in Notepad.
  • Please save the log in Notepad on your desktop and post the contents in your next reply.
  • When you close Emsisoft Emergency Kit, it will give you an option to sign up for a newsletter. This is optional, and is not necessary for the malware removal process.
  • Please post these 2 logs when finished.
You'll want to update the instructions for both programs.  Malwarebytes Free doesn't have Automatic Quarantine as a free option anymore, and the way Emisoft Emergency Kit opens, etc, is different.
Anyhow, the logs:
