At the top of this page, clear out the browser, then type in www.google.com
this open?

if it did
type in NoScript
see if this will allow you to go to the addon for Firefox, see if you can download and install.
try this for Chrome

Chrome allows you to turn JavaScript off and on for websites. To do so, follow these steps:
to turn JavaScript off or on for all sites:

Click the Chrome menu [external image: chromebrowsertoolbar.png] More in the top right hand corner of your browser
Select Settings
Click Show advanced settings
Under the "Privacy" section, click the Content settings button.
In the "Javascript" section, select "Do not allow any site to run JavaScript" or "Allow all sites to run JavaScript (recommended)"

click OK if needed.

close the browser
Now open it again and check if viglinks is still there.
If I'm right this is created through a java script
if you also apply noscript to firefox it should in theory stop it from displaying in that browser too.

Time to remove tools and quarantine folders?

the links under the "take advantage of and consider stuff" are loading properly now. However, this one link  (https://support.appl…/en-us/HT201262) is persistent. It keeps redirecting to viglink. It's the same for the Firefox browser.

I have ABP installed for both browser.

As for Firefox, the viglink link still shows up on the address bar whenever I "paste and go" the links under the "take advantage of and consider stuff" but it loads the Mozilla support page. So I guess that's okay.

Any leftover logs, files, folders or tools remaining on your Desktop which were not removed can be deleted manually (right-click the file + delete
