Possible infection/running extremely slow all of a sudden [Solved]

I have a Toshiba Satellite running Windows 10.

All of a sudden it is running very slow, almost to the point of unusable at times. It's not an old laptop, it was purchased a little over a year ago.

Can someone please help?

To put your mind at ease, there's no infection showing up but there are some entries that need to be dealt with which I'll post a "fix" for in the morning.

Having looked more thoroughly at your logs it confirms my initial findings that there is no evidence of malware but you do have some Windows issues which would be better addressed in our Windows forum as I’m not qualified in that department. You need to move Farbar Recovery Scan Tool to your desktop otherwise fixes will not work.

• go to your Downloads folder and locate Farbar Recovery Scan Tool
• right click and select Cut
• go to an empty spot on your desktop, right click and select Paste

Farbar Recovery Scan Tool should now be on your desktop.

Update installed programs

Your version of Java is out-of-date and need to be removed and updated.

Having the latest updates and removing old versions ensures there are no security vulnerabilities in your system.

Uninstall:

Java 8 Update 101
 

If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Install the latest version of Java:

NOTE – when you install Java, before clicking on Install, be sure to Uncheck “Install the Ask Toolbar and make Ask my default search provider”

Even though I just had you get the latest version of Java, there is a vulnerability with regards to Java and web browsers. Therefore, we recommend to disable java in web browsers.

I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother and hope that you have the support to help you through how you are feeling.

Moving/Internet connection rarely go smoothly and that added to the loss of your grandmother must be a very

big burden on you.

Uninstall AdwCleaner

• double click on adwcleaner.exe to run the tool
• click on Uninstall
• confirm with Yes.

You can delete all other logs and programs we’ve used that are on your desktop. Just click on them and press Delete.

Download & run Delfix

• download Delfix from here to remove many of the tools we've used during the cleaning process.
• ensure “Remove disinfection tools” is checked.

Also place a checkmark next to:

o    Create registry backup
o    Purge system restore

• click the Run button.
