Thanks for the referral; i was not aware of that but you will still have the Maserati with new features so it will be fun. I predict they will either make UEFI universal or have another system to replace it. Almost every PC made has a different version of it and some quite complex an time consuming.

My current build ; says 2x2+4 for the power supply and the motherboard says 8 pin. Are they compatible??

Below is my final build.

I have asked Micro Center if the semi modular PSU will need more cables and if so which.

Are they compatible or should they say the exact same thing?

?paste,  ?fans,

I was advised to use an after market cooler and the person aid the heat sink and fan are really for testing. I don't like the idea of paste and wonder if this cooler is necessary for my last  MC build with the i5 CPU?

If you are wandering by please comment.

no idea who told you that, but no it's not true, the stock heatsink is designed to be fitted and used full time so you don't need an after market cooler.

main reasons for getting an after market cooler is, you're going to overclock so need better cooling or you're unhappy with the fan noise of the stock cooler and want a quieter option.

personally i always use an after market cooling solution but for you i'd recommend sticking with the stock heatsink for now and see how it goes, you can always buy and fit an after market heatsink at a later date if your not happy but to be honest i don't see you having any reason to.

You confirmed what I thought about the heat sink.

I am glad to hear about the cables; that semi modular description threw me off . I started Googling it and although I learned about the 3 kinds, I still did not know about my build until you told me..

Thanks for the help.

I am going to show you my new build which is a modification from my others.

I would like to shave about $150 off of the price and wonder if the cooler is, in the long run, a good component for this build. Compatible and fit in case?

Grand Total $880                  The Sandisk line is small  but I cannot fix it. I would like the SSD if possibe

yes the cooler will fit in the case i believe.

semi modular just means some of the cables are not permanently attached to the psu so yes they can be easier to work with especially in a small case where cable management can be a problem. i doubt you'd have such a problem in the case you've selected.

if you want to save a bit of money then i wouldn't add the t4 cpu cooler and i'd buy a 450watt psu instead of the 700watt one.

you don't need so much power for your build, a good 300watt psu would probably suffice.

if money is really an issue then drop the ssd too but personally i'd keep it in the build and find other ways of saving a bit of money, like using this motherboard :- http://www.microcenter.com/product/454097/H170_Pro_Gaming_LGA_1151_ATX_Intel_Motherboard_with_USB_31_Type-A-AC#tab-specs. and a cheaper dvd drive :- http://www.microcenter.com/product/0437169/GH24NSC0B_24x_Internal_DVD_Rewritable_SATA_Drive#tab-specs
