hi,
i got this stupid crypt0l0cker virus. not happy. apparently  there is a way to get the key instead of paying the ransom.

can any one help?? if i can get rid of virus but end up losing my pictures, music etc, so be it. but would prefer to keep them of course.

i have attached a screenshot of the message so maybe that might help.

Most IT security techs and the government are in agreement that the ransom should not be paid. Your dealing with thieves / crooks / and pond scum here and paying the ransom does not guarantee you will get your files back. A few months back a large hospital got there system infected and even though they paid a very large ranson , hundreds of 1000s of dollars they failed to get the files back.

Do you have any of your files or pics backed up at all , maybe to an external hard drive / USB thumb drive or an online files storage service ?

You can give this a try, cant guarantee it will work but its worth a try. You can download Kasperskys CryptXXXX tool, down load it to your desktop.   Let me know how it went

You also posted here, your post was replied to by a helper and like here you have not replied back.  All us helpers are volunteers and we do this in our spare time to help people like yourself, the problem is sometimes there are not enough helpers to go around so asking for help on two or more malware removal forums for the same issue is just plain rude.
