From what I see looking at the internet for this device, it's a router and creates a wireless network you can connect to from other devices.

It's meant to share an existing internet connection with your other devices, like cell phones, iPad, etc.

Main Features:
● Mini portable design: As small as a coin
● You can attach it to your cellphone for keychain with the extra strap included
● Sync data and files on PC and cellphone: Connect the WiFi access point adapter to PC, you will find a “Xiaomi WiFi share drive”, and if you put the files that you want to share in the drive, all the cellphones connected with the WiFi access point adapter can have access to the data
● Wireless speed up to 150Mbps, ideal for internet surfing and on-line gaming
● Can access multiple devices at the same time
● Complies with IEEE 802.11n, IEEE 802.11g, IEEE 802.11b standards
Note: Mi WiFi adapter not a wireless network card, must be used under the computer open and connected to the internet

If you want to use WiFi to connect to your existing wireless network then you need a wireless USB adapter.

Wouldn't be the first time I've been wrong, that's what I'm seeing.

The link you posted says: Easy to use, just plug it into a computer that can surf the internet

To me that means an internet connection must already exist.

There is a YouTube video on how to navigate the Chinese installation.

As you'll see, once that is installed he uses his Cell Phone to connect to the hot spot he's just created.Shows nothing about using the device to connect via WiFi to another wireless network.

Ztruker;...

That does not explain WHY it worked on another computer & DID work on MY computer...

Methinks I have a bad dongle or ?? & am going to see about getting another...

Also , the install graphics on the YouTube ARE different from the ones I see when I try to install mine...
I suspect that there are different drivers for different purposes with a common dongle configuration...Just IMHO..

These are the graphics I get during installation;=>....

WiFi #1.jpg
When you click on the right group of Chinese symbols , the graphic becomes animated & you get the following graphic:=>..

WiFi #2.jpg
IF I knew which part of the above graphic to click on , I might be able to get this working....
However , I click on where it says 360WiFi D-8 it changes to another graphic & disappears..

WiFi #3.jpg

The above graphic randomly appeared & clicking on it brings the 2nd graphic back onscreen..

What a conundrum !!!

Easy to use, just plug it into a computer that can surf the internet

My interpretation of that was that your computer would be a wireless unit to your router...

To me that means an internet connection must already exist.

True...
IF , in my case , the router has  wireless capabilities , then you are good to go...

Rich;..
I really think I have either a bad dongle or I'm clicking on the wrong part(s) of the graphics during installation..
This dongle DID work on 2 computers..

When I first got it , it self-installed & was online in seconds with no other graphics to mess with..
Something went bonkers & now I'm getting all these other graphics that only Confucious could decifer  !!!...

So , God only knows what is going on here..
(Well , maybe the Chinese do too..)

Have a GREAT day & week...

Ztruker....

I've resigned myself to the strong possibility that the "dongle" IS bad...

I hate to keep repeating myself , but , THAT dongle DID work on a computer that had Vista for OS !!!
End of that commentary..

I'm in the process of getting an "ADAPTER"..

This is the unit I'm ordering today...

http://www.ebay.com/...SIAAOSwZVhWSk5K

I contacted the seller & he confirms that my computer can work in another room away from the Router/modem that's in a different room..
So that should  put an end to this problem...

I went to your link & all I saw was pix & no download...
I tried some similar drivers for this  & one of them gave me that exact pix , (below) but , did not work...

In fact , I could not use the driver & could NOT get rid of the rather large pix at the lower corner of my screen without restarting my computer which I was not happy about...

I will keep you posted when I get it installed...

THANKS for ALL the help...
I REALLY appreciate it..

Have a GREAT day & weekend...

That will work. Not sure why you got one that can set up a hotspot but it will do the job for you.

This is from the Netis web site:

The netis WF2120 150Mbps Wireless N Nano USB Adapter is designed to connect a desktop or notebook computer to a wireless network and access an  Internet connection. It is small  which is a convenient size that is easy to transport and use in many environments. The  Nano adapter is compatible with 802.11b/g/n devices and provides wireless transfer speeds up to 150Mbps, offering better performance for web surfing, emailing, file sharing, and online chatting.

what's special about setting up a hotspot? far as i'm aware any wifi adapter can be used to set up a hot spot on any pc unless my memory is playing tricks with me again and why i'm asking.

i don't see anything special with the specs of that dongle unless i'm missing something that makes it different and good for setting up a hotspot.

terry1966 & Ztruker;...

That will work. Not sure why you got one that can set up a hotspot but it will do the job for you.

I got that one for 2 reasons;...

1)..
The price is reasonable...

2) ..
I contacted the seller to make SURE it fits my needs & it does...

I have NO clue what a "hotspot" is ....
THANKS Ztruker for your OK on this type of adapter or "dongle"...

BTW;...
What is the difference between the Adapter that I'm getting & a "dongle" ???..
Confusion reigns over this issue in my mind...

Have a GREAT day & weekend ...

Ztruker;....

Probably a bad word choice, should have just used device.

Not on your part...
There are instances at eBay & elsewhere...

I found this definition on the internet;=>..

don·gle
ˈdäNGɡəl,ˈdôNG-/
noun
noun: dongle; plural noun: dongles
  1. a small device able to be connected to and used with a computer, especially to allow access to wireless broadband or use of protected software.

So , the term does fit the dongle/adapter/device that I had the problem with !!!.. ..
( used with a computer, especially to allow access to wireless broadband)...
I'm presuming that includes PC to Router/modem access ... ...

My new "Adapter" is expected Tuesday... :o ...
I'll update you next week...

Have a GREAT day & weekend...

The above says it all....
The new WiFi adapter arrived today earlier than expected...
After a couple of tries , it installed OK...
I'm using it now as I make this post...

I can't begin to THANK ALL of you enough for your EXCELLENT help & advice...

Have a GREAT day & week... :) ...

Until my next issue....
