She had Comcast Constant guard which we removed with Norton .
that doesn't sound correct to me.
to remove a program it's always best to either use windows add/remove software or the programs own dedicated software removal tool.
anyway go into windows software add/remove programs and see if there is a comcast tool bar listed and un-install that, then Look on your C: drive/program files for a folder called "comcasttb" inside there you should find an uninstall file, run that, then restart and it should rid you of this error.
I misled you and Rich is right about the separation of procedures, thank you.
There is no Comcast tool bar in add/remove but I removed a Constant guard icon.
Under program files there is Comcast but it is Desktop Doctor which I doubt she needs.
Two folders down there is a folder called Conexant which has a folder called Constant Guard Protection under it and when opened there is an application called 'uninstall 575 KB'. I tried to open it, and also run it as admin but it says invalid start mode; archive file name.
I have rebooted twice with no problem and if I shut down and power up with no isues all will be well.
Once a again, well you know what I am going to say, don't you.
I can't thank you enough.
