Scorpion Saver removal seems to require instructions specific to individual machines. The PC I am trying to repair is a Vista 32 bit SP2. I tried the Malware Bytes forum but the person trying to help me was impatient and insulting so I am looking for help somewhere else. I found this site from a posting by Norton.

I have run CCleaner, ADWcleaner, Malwarebytes, and other programs but Scorpion Saver is still there.

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.

  • Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.

  • Press Scan button.

  • It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please copy and paste it to your reply.

  • The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.

Sorry but I see no way to attach files to this email. I can not copy and paste because there is no option on the drop down menu to do that. Also  drag and drop does not work. This PC is a 32 bit Windows Vista SP2. Any suggestions?

It's fine if you paste the log into the reply window.

But to attach a file > click "more reply options" bottom right of the reply window >

now scroll to the "browse button" under attach files which is on the bottom left of the reply window >

browse to the file you want to attach  > click "Attach this file"

when it uploads > click the "add to post" on the right side of the reply window and now the file will be attached to your reply > click the "add reply" button.

Hello,

The entry is showing in your Installed Programs list, what happens when you manually try to remove it from the list, what errror message do you get?

ScorpionSaver (HKLM\...\{9B65F9A3-9D24-452A-B6EF-1457D65E4259}) (Version: 1.0.0.0 - Adpeak, Inc.)

Please run the following:

Download attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Downloads folder as that is where FRST.exe is saved.

NOTE. It's important that both files, FRST and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work.

NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system

Run FRST/FRST64 and press the Fix button just once and wait.
The tool will make a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt). Please post it to your reply.

NEXT

Please download SystemLook from one of the links below and save it to your Desktop.
Download Mirror #1
Download Mirror #2
  • Double-click SystemLook.exe to run it.
  • Copy the content of the following codebox into the main textfield:

    :filefind
    *adpeak*
    *ScorpionSaver*

    :folderfind
    *adpeak*
    *ScorpionSaver*

    :regfind
    Adpeak
    ScorpionSaver
    {9B65F9A3-9D24-452A-B6EF-1457D65E4259}

  • Click the Look button to start the scan.
  • When finished, a notepad window will open with the results of the scan. Please post this log in your next reply.
Note: The log can also be found on your Desktop entitled SystemLook.txt

Please do the following:

Click WinKey + R to open a run box > type notepad into the open run box > OK > this will open Notepad

Click Format and make certain that Word Wrap is NOT checked.

Copy/Paste the text inside of the code box into the open Notepad

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

Now go to File > and click Save As,
From the drop down menu at the top of the box choose Desktop as the location to save this file.
Go down to the File Name box and type in fixme.reg as the file name, then choose All Files as the save as file type.
Then click the save button.

Once you have clicked the save button, close Notepad.

You should now see a file on your desktop that looks like this:

regfile.gif

Locate the fixme.reg icon on your desktop and double click it, an information box will pop up asking if you want to merge the information in the file into the registry, click YES.

Once the file has run, the information will have merged with your registry so you can delete fixme.reg from your desktop as you won't be needing it any more.

Please let me know how the computer is running now and if there are any outstanding issues.

Thye error message is "Cannot import C:\Users\Judy Warner\fixme.reg: The specified path is not a registry script. You can only input binary registry files from within the registr editor.

The machine rebooted and I followed the instructions. I couldn't find the folder in notepad but did a c drive search and found it. I went through the attach file process that you mentioned earlier and when I clicked attattach I got this message in pink. "You aren't allowed to attach this type of file" I tried it three times same result. I have the file just don't know how to get it to you.

Does it have a .txt extension or a .log extension?

If it's .log rename it to .txt

How is the computer running now, are there any outstanding issues?
