Computer is extremely slow and often freezes for periods of time and then unfreezes and keeps going until the next freeze. Sometimes it starts flashing and then restarts the computer...message display Driver stopped responding.

Hi bobburk3,

  :welcome:

My name is Tomk. I would be glad to take a look at your log and help you with solving any malware problems. Logs can take a while to research, so please be patient and I'd be grateful if you would note the following:
  • I will be working on your Malware issues, this may or may not, solve other issues you have with your machine.
  • The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for the issues on this machine.
  • Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine appears to be clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.
  • It's often worth reading through these instructions and printing them for ease of reference.
  • If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to say or ask!! It's better to be sure and safe than sorry.
  • Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
I'd like to see a better log for review:

Please download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links and save it to your desktop.
  • Disable any script blocking protection (How to Disable your Security Programs)
  • Double click DDS icon to run the tool (may take up to 3 minutes to run)
  • When done, DDS.txt will open.
  • After a few moments, attach.txt will open in a second window.
  • Save both reports to your desktop.
  • ---------------------------------------------------
    • Post the contents of the DDS.txt and Attach.txt report in your next reply

Tomk

You did perfect.  I wanted you to post the logs just like you did.

I do not believe that this is a malware related issue.

1/14/2014 10:53:04 AM, Error: Service Control Manager [7031] - The CarboniteService service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 60000 milliseconds: Restart the service.

These errors can be cause by a video card.  Excess heat.  Driver problem.

I suspect that I won't be much use to you on this.  I suggest that you post in the Hardware Forum and let the Tech Team take a crack at helping you resolve this.  When you post there... please include a link to this thread so that they will be able to see the log you posted.

If that makes sense to you... let me know and I'll close this thread.

If you have questions first... let me know that also.

Thank you Tom. I will try the hardware forum. You are probably right about the cause being the video card. Sometimes the screen starts flashing and then the computer restarts. I get a message saying the display drive stopped responding and has recovered.
