:pullhair: Hello i am hoping someone can help me, i uninstalled Java Script a short time ago and i am finding i am having trouble viewing videos, is Java Script the only one available or is there another as i am a bit nervous of Java that's why i uninstalled it. :wall:
java and java script are not the same thing.

javascript should be used and java should be uninstalled unless you know you need it, most people don't so in my opinion definitely uninstall java.

here's a short explanation about the differences between the 2 :- http://www.bbc.co.uk/webwise/guides/java-and-javascript

removing java shouldn't affect watching videos so exactly what problems are you having?

Hi Terry, I was going through the program files a few weeks after uninstalling all Java and spotted Java Script so i uninstalled it and now realise this was probably the wrong thing to do, i have tried to find a good java script but there are so many dodgy looking programs, would you know the right one to install please, would be so grateful :)
you don't download and install javascript.

well not unless you are creating your own a web page/site and need a script or two instead of writing them yourself.
to use the javascripts on web pages you visit all you need to do is enabled/turned it on in whatever web browser you use. (by default it is usually turned on anyway.)

this explains it better i think. :- http://javascript.about.com/od/hintsandtip…iptdownload.htm

this link shows you how to turn on javascript and it also has a built in check to show you if it is enabled or disabled in whatever browser your using. :- http://www.enable-javascript.com/

mine has a green tick then says

javascript enabled JavaScript is enabled in your web browser. If you disable JavaScript, this text will change.

I won't be able to enable Java script as i went into the actual program files not through Control panel so it doesn't exist on my PC anymore, i will read your info and see what i can do thanks Terry :)
not sure exactly what you may have done but if you can't enable javascript then i think your best bet would be to un-install your web browser and then re-install it. (download it first ready to be re-installed after you've un-installed it through control panel and add/remove programs.)

that should fix anything you've broken, yes i'd say you do need javascript.

did you visit this link :- http://www.enable-javascript.com/

and did it say javascript wasn't turned on/ working/ installed or something along those lines?

you could aslo just restore your pc to an earlier time/condition before you deleted whatever it was you deleted.
Terry i went in via Computer, Local disc then program files, and from there thinking it was associated with Java i uninstalled it, i don't appear to be having problems except with Youtube, when i select one to watch it has a grey square and i need to click on the middle to get it to work so i updated flash player but it keeps saying i need to update it.
Sorry i meant there was none of the olf Flash player, i have downloaded from your link and tried playing a video on Youtube and i got the grey window and had to click the middle to get flash player to work and then i got a window like the old TV's with snow saying there was an error etc and right down the bottom it did mention Java script so maybe i have done something i should not have by unninstalling Java script
This is the message i got Terry.

Video player error message

If you’re getting a player error message, most of the time, the video should start working again in about 30 minutes. This error can sometimes happen if the uploader is making changes to the video, there’s an issue with your Internet connection speed, or the video is being removed or having other issues.

What you can do

Try again after 30 minutes
In most cases, the video should start working again in about 30 minutes. If that doesn’t work, try the following tips.

Reload the page
On many browsers, you can press the F5 key or Command+R keys on your keyboard to reload the current page.

Change your video’s quality
Click the gear icon in the bottom right corner of the video player and select a lower quality setting, like 240p or 360p. Wait for the buffer bar to start loading before clicking play in the video player.

Close other tabs or windows
If you have multiple tabs or windows open in your browser, try closing them.

Upgrade your browser
If you'd like the best YouTube viewing experience, upgrade to the most recent version of your browser.

Update your Flash Player
Most videos on YouTube are streamed through Adobe Flash Player, a plug-in for your web browser, so make sure to update to the latest version.

Turn on JavaScript
JavaScript is required for many features to work. Make sure JavaScript is enabled on your browser.

Clear your cache and cookies
Clearing your cache and cookies can improve the speed and performance of your browser.

Try viewing the video on a different browser or computer
Problems playing videos

Video player error message
Video display issues
Video is choppy or ends early
No sound on videos
Upgrade your browser
Black bars on videos
JavaScript or Flash Player error
Video not available in my country
Videos won’t play
ok try a different web browser, if you've only got ie installed here's a link to the firefox web browser. :- http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/

try that one and see if things work ok now.

if they do then i'd uninstall ie or whatever web browser your using that's giving you problems and then download the latest version and re-install it.

see if that fixes the problem.

Hi terry , I uninstalled Chrome and reinstalled what they say is the latest version but it doesn't have all the new things that i had with the latest update, near the address bar to the left was an icon for the apps that is missing from this version. The video side of it seems to be fixed though which was my main problem, so i will put up with the apps icon missing and settle for how it was previously. Thank you very much for your help.
