Outpost and Avast have been installed.…
(That's as far as I got when replying to your last post using the computer, as it froze up on me. This post was done from my IPhone. I was going to say that automatic updates tried to install 4 updates, but could not install KB2863058. After system rebooted it tried again to install update, but still could not do it.
From what it is that I am reading, this download is not a great big deal, but it concerns me that you are still getting BSODs and having to reboot your system. When was the last time you actually reinstalled your operating system fresh?
SP3 did download successfully as did Avast and Outpost. Although system seems to be running a little slow and there was the occasion that it froze on me in the middle of replying to a previous post. My last BSOD was only when I tried to run SP3 in safe mode WITH networking. But as I say, system seems to be OK'ish with networking in normal mode, at the moment.
With regards to your question about reinstalling my operating system, it's something I have never considered as it seemed to me to be the last thing to consider. Also, to be truthful, I would not be sure how to go about it. But saying all that I am quite good at following instructions.
Ok no problem…..If this is a Windows XP system and you have never formatted it before, I take it that the computer is fairly old? Let's check and see if it is the hard drive.
Please download HD Tune (the free version not the trial), run an error scan on your primary harddrive (full not quick) and report back if any blocks aren't green. It tests your hard drive for bad sectors.
Hello Jeff
First off, I would like to thank you for your continued support and also to let you know how grateful I am. This reply to you is sent from my iPhone, but as soon as I get home on Friday 20th Sept I will run the scan and post the results.

That is good. That is telling us that your hard drive is in good condition. However, with all of the BSODs that you are having this is probably either a hardware or software problem. Let me keep looking and I will get back to you as quickly as I can.
