Funny how you linked me to that, i was googling that and i found it my self. So i em able to actaully open the browser using kaspersky rescue disk in graphic mode and actually go this website, but the moment i do, it starts flashing off and on for some reason.

I was hoping that i can send you a log of what kaspersky scans. I am actually online now i can download maleware software or what ever on the infected machine, this is progress lol. I just updated it and now i am doing the all scan objects, but anyways since i have access to a virtual like console here, is their any other procedures or anti maleware software that i can use now to try and remove this male ware? Like i can probably get a scan of DDS now, and show you the log files maybe. Or possibly use combofix, TTDS killer for root kit activity, etc.

This is confusing, when i try and download DDS and then run it, it says open with, what do you open it with, "terminal"? I am trying to send a log of this infected machine so you can carefully anylize the situation.

It comes up with a windows that looks like a command prompt that says "Root: Bash" then it wants me to in cert a command, so i am so totally confused here.

EDIT: Well after some research, i found something called Windowsunlocker so i executed that command and ill see if that unlocks safe mode so i can proceed to setup windows normally. IN which case if that works, then i can work on eradicating this maleware. Never mind, it doesn't work.

EDIT 2: Well i scanned the whole pc and their is no option to remove any selected files and no infections came up, so i have no idea what i did wrong here.
Well that part is coming in today so yep, thats what it looks like ill be doing and when i say part i mean the IDE to USB adapater which i hope works for plugging in this drive to my computer. So i guess the only questions i got for you now, is in regards to backing up "ALL" the files and making sure i do not get "REINFECTED" two very important steps. Once i start transferring over the files from my new pc how the heck em going to prevent from reinfecting the computer with a bad file, whats your procedures on this, what should i scan them with? Another immportant thing is their a way for me to back up her "browser settings, personalized settings, history, bookmarks, things like that. I usually forget this crucial step when it comes to a machine that is infected to this degree, so i have to make sure that i copy the right folders but also not infect it again. Also preventative measures need to be taken and i am really taking to the extreme here, since this male ware practically immobilized this machine to the point to where i HAD to do a back up and once i get back in, i still have no way of knowing what kind of damaged it caused, i do not want to get this kind of infection again. So in regards to prevention what should i do, like what fire walls should I install, should i get ERUNt for a back up a registry. Keep in mind that this machine is going back to my sister and she is kind of below average i would say when it comes to managing a machine, so i need to keep it heavily protected for her. Is their a way i can do a complete system registry back up of some sort in case i get this virus again i can just simply run the boot-able disk or something, i have heard of such things just not sure what type precaution to take here. So let me know, this is very important steps. I might also consider checking the drive for errors? using the windows repair even after i back up the data? Cause a virus of this caliber could of damaged some sectors, its possible. Personally what i use is Avast anti security for a firewall, its been ok for me right now and since i got a yearly pay subscription for that, i can use that on this machine, then i also have a malewarebyes handy just in case, a passkey software also for locking up passwords and IDS. I have not used Erunt in a while, last time i used it it had some issues with my computer and i had trouble re installing it. It kept popping up during boot up, not sure why that was. But i really need to think big here when in regards to prevention so this type of disastrous infection never hits this HD again and if it does i have a complete full proof back up plan next time you know what im saying. Like maybe i should create a pare of back up dvds that will re-store windows, i know laptops come pre configured with that kind of software, but ive never used such a thing on a desktop computer. So anything you recommend or steps to be taken in that regards. Talk to your peers and find out what the best solution here is. Don't forget that since i will be re partitioning, ill have install all of the old drivers to and i do not have any disks for that, so ill have to figure that out as well. Usually i can use a software called CPU-Z or like Everest and it will tell me all the components i have and what drivers i need. I'll give you exact specs of the pc once am able to actually get into a working windows. I like thank you for helping me in any possible way you could, i appreciate it.
The biggest issue is that box will be running XP and MS Support / updates will be running out. There isn't any way that I know of to protect a pc to 100% other than not having internet connection and never use the internet, never open emails, download files, etc. Which in that case you might just as well not have a pc. Scanning each file? You'll never get finished.

That is not quite the answer i was looking for. I know a pc can't always be a 100% protected but i can at least take preventive measures towards using certain software to back up files, create a back up restore disk, create a registry back up, have a decent firewall. Talking bout not having a pc because its old and not using the internet, downloading files, etc is a very unprofessional way of putting it. Obviously my sister is going to use it again. I don't know why you would come up with that type of conclusion. Yes thats why i asked, i am well aware of XP being under heavy attack due to not having auto updates like win7 does, that is why in case a infection like this happens again i need to be able to back it up and not have to go through all this hassle. Is their some one else that you know that might have a little more knowledge in the field of using XP computers that might be able to voice his/her opinion on the subject matter.

Why do you say i can't scan the files? You also did not answer my other questions, is their a software i can use as a back boot-able by disk where i can restore windows XP? If you don't know then thats fine. Ill try and look up this stuff my self i guess if you do not know.
The facts are the facts. Once MS stops updates for XP a lot of protection programs will stop XP support as well. I have and will continue to also use a XP box to help support users until I can't use it any longer. There are many help sites you can use as well as Google to find answers and programs such as a back-up program, firewalls, av's, etc. We choose to shy away from recommending this or that program as all it does is open a can of worms. We aren't here to do all the work for you. You've used our free services since 2009. I suspect you aren't always doing this for free. Feel free to use other free help sites.

Yep and you have provided me with tons of help and even education in learning how to clean computer's. I finally got the HD out of that box and into my pc hooked up and i just have to ask what do you think i should use to scan for infections before copying files over. I am just using my avast security software, most infections infect the ROOT of the drive though so that being the windows folder. As long i delete that, i am pretty sure im ok. I just don't want to reinfect the computer again, thats my whole thing, taking precaution on that.

You recommend a better scanner to scan the drive with?
Avast should be fine. After you get the data from the XP saved / backed up. Put the drive back in the XP box, boot with her Windows OS and be sure to reformat the existing partition. Once that is finished and you have a bootable XP, check for Windows updates, install your security programs and transfer the data back from the backup.
yeah she sure had some infections malewarebytes found like 15 of them on my external and this is data i am putting back into her pc and thats just from the files that i copied over which were just normal video files, game files, software, etc. I might scan with avast next just to make sure its completely clean. Oh and i did a complete delete of the partition table, i didn't even format using the windows old folder, i just erase the partition and started a new one, so the pc is completely clean. Yeah i have not checked for any updates or installed any security patches yet, i will be doing that, correct me if im wrong but you have to go to starts > windows updates right? lol its been a while since ive used XP.
Do externals get infected? Anyways lets see what we got some kind of hackertool.Gfix Packill.worm a bunch of variety of trojans, and even the blaster worm, jeese. I can't really tell where the files originated from, since all of them are in the downloads folder, i can try scanning the "windows folder" but im going to delete that anyway, i am just curious where this person got these, obviously its her X boyfriend, he has alot of porn, video's torrents, lots of cracks and tools that my sister would never ever use. She only uses it for college, im better off just deleting these files altogether if she does not use them.

Well that's the stuff that infects pc's.

Yeah i agree. So as far as windows XP not being able to provide security updates, does that mean that you won't be able to do it manually AT ALL, any more? So in other words installing an anti virus would utterly be useless then huh.

With out security patches and upgrades, windows has no protection at all.

This computer is pretty slow, so i tend to try and keep as much stuff off of it as i can so it doesn't stress the CPU load. I was thinking bout puting my bought version of Avast on here, but umm im not sure, it runs a bit of CPU power and ultimately might slow the computer down a bit, but it has to have some type of protection at least before Microsoft stops updating security patches.

I also have to find the drivers for this old machine, i guess HP will have them, its a bought computer, not a prebuilt one.

Hey whats that software called again you mentioned before that shows you all of the specifics of your machine? I forget the name of it but it works a hella of lot better then Everest and is alot more accurate.
