Here is the AVG installation guide: http://www.avg.com/us-en/installation-guide

Patti, you need to pay attention to what you download and be sure to uncheck any prechecked, bundled applications.

AdwCleaner found a lot of browser hijackers. You had various search engines, that we call adware or 'potentially unwanted programs' (P.U.P found by Malwarebytes'). Not all Anti-virus programs will detect this adware because some people think they want that junk! Don't fall for "cutsie" stuff!! ;)

After you've installed and scanned with AVG, you definitely need to read this article about "browser add-ons: Read how to disable browser add on extentions, and follow the instructions for each of these browsers—> IE, Firefox and Chrome:

This will help keep your computer clean.
I downloaded and ran a virus check with avg - downloaded from a site that said it was the 2013 Sometimes there are so many download buttons,, it is hard for the novice to tell which download button to use. All of my add=ons are disabled in FF and have been for some time now. I will keep running my Windows defender avg, malewarebytes and TFC once a week. Does that suffice to keeping my computer clean? When I go to download anything else i always google the site to see if it is ok and it always is, so I don't know why I am getting all the malware and viruses.

You might have a problem with slowness if you have two Anti-virus programs running at the same time. You can set Windows defender to run only when you want to scan with it.

1. Click on the MS Windows 'orb', then copy and paste services.msc in the start search box.
2. Click on the services gear icon when it comes up. The services window will open.
3. Now scroll down to Windows Defender.
4. Right click on it and choose "Properties".
5. When that window opens, click on the middle dropdown bar and set it to manual.
6. Stop the service, click apply and ok.

You should be set to go.
I have been trying to watch what I am downloading, as i showed you in the screenshot above, it is very confusing. . But I tried to run Windows defender and it won't run, I didn't even do anything. I went to the services and tried to make it manual, but the area was grayed out and also wouldn't work. [attachment removed] [attachment removed]

That is what the first screen shows. I then went to the service properties as you said and tried to make it manual, but the area was grayed out and wouldn't let me do anything. I went to the configure service startup, but it assumed you could change it and I couldn't. 📎windows_defender.PNG 📎windows_defender_propertes.PNG
