Hello compudodo and welcome to the WTT forum.

My name is Satchfan and I would be glad to help you with your computer problem.

Sorry to hear about your problem and the delay in answering but as you say, we have more people needing help than helpers and so are very busy.

Please read the following guidelines which will help to make cleaning your machine easier:
  • please follow all instructions in the order posted
  • please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine appears to be clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear
  • all logs/reports, etc. must be posted in Notepad. Please ensure that word wrap is unchecked. In Notepad click Format, uncheck Word wrap if it is checked
  • if you don't understand something, please don't hesitate to ask for clarification before proceeding
  • the fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine.
  • please reply within 3 days. If you do not reply within this period I will post a reminder but topics with no reply in 4 days will be closed!
IMPORTANT:

Please DO NOT install/uninstall any programs unless asked to.
Please DO NOT run any scans other than those requested

===================================================

Run RogueKiller

IMPORTANT: Please remove any usb or external drives from the computer before you run this scan!

Close all running programs.

Download one of these to your desktop:

i couldn't figure out the process to get the logs onto my desktop

When you click on the download link, the popup at the bottom of the screen asks if you want to "save" or "run" the program; just to the right of "Save" is a downward-pointing arrow; click on that and it will give you a choice of where to save it.

for a 32-bt system download this version.
for 64-bit use this one

.
  • close all running programs
  • for Windows Vista/Seven, right click -> run as administrator, for XP simply double-click on RogueKiller.exe
  • when the pre-scan is finished, click on Scan
  • click on Report and copy/paste the content in your next post
  • NOTE: DO NOT attempt to remove anything that the scan detects –everything that is reported is not necessarily bad
If the program is blocked, continue to try it several times. If it still doesn’t work, (it could happen), rename it to winlogon.exe.
Please post the contents of the RKreport.txt in your next reply.

Satchfan
ok….. clicked the little downward arrow and it did not give me options on where to save it i got save….. save as and save and run….. i choose save as it just goes to downloads…. i choose save and it just says run or view downloads…. nowhere am i getting the option to save it to the desktop and without that option, i don't know how to get it onto my desktop
When it says "save as", it is asking you to choose where to save it and what to call it; Click on Save as and this will open a window that gives you the choice of location.

At the top on the left you should see “Favorites” and the Desktop folder as one of the options below it; click on the Desktop folder and then on Save.

EDIT: YOU SAID NOT TO DO ANYTHING……THIS ROGUE KILLER WANTS ME TO DELETE THINGS, I HAVE TO SHUT DOWN MY MACHINE NOW, AND SO I AM NOT DELETING ANYTHING , I HOPE I CAN GO BACK AND CHANGE THINGS ONCE YOU SAY IT IS OK
You did right to follow the instructions and not to delete anything because nothing bad was found.

We'll run some more scans which will hopefully show where the culprit is. :)

Download and run AdwCleaner

Download AdwCleaner from here and save it to your desktop.
  • run AdwCleaner and select Delete
  • when it has finished it will ask to reboot - allow the reboot
  • on reboot a log will be produced; please attach the content of the log to your next reply.
===================================================

Download and run OTL
  • download OTL to your desktop.
  • double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
  • click Scan all users.
  • under Custom Scan paste this in

    netsvcs
    %SYSTEMDRIVE%\*.exe
    /md5start
    explorer.exe
    winlogon.exe
    Userinit.exe
    svchost.exe
    services.exe
    /md5stop
    %systemroot%\*. /rp /s
    DRIVES
    CREATERESTOREPOINT

  • click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan won’t take long.
  • when the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
  • please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of these files, one at a time, and post it with your next reply.
  • you may need two posts to fit them both in.
===================================================

Run aswMBR
  • download aswMBR.exe to your desktop.
  • double click the aswMBR.exe to run it
  • if asked, accept the AVAST virus definition download
  • click the "Scan" button to start scan
  • on completion of the scan click Save log, save it to your desktop and post in your next reply. Note - do NOT attempt any Fix yet.
Logs to include with next post:

AdwCleaner log
OTL.txt
Extras.txt
aswMBR log

Some of the tools we use can be stopped from working if other programs are running so we’ll have to temporarily disable them.

Disable Spybot’s TeaTimer and Windows Defender

Spybot’s TeaTimer and Windows Defender can sometimes prevent some things from being fixed.

Please disable TeaTimer and Windows Defender for now until you are clean. TeaTimer and Windows Defender can be re-activated once your log is clean.
  • open Spybot Search & Destroy
  • in the Mode menu click "Advanced mode" if not already selected
  • choose "Yes" at the Warning prompt
  • expand the "Tools" menu
  • click "Resident"
  • uncheck the "Resident "TeaTimer" (Protection of overall system settings) active." box
  • in the File menu click "Exit" to exit Spybot Search & Destroy.
To disable Windows Defender:
  • open Windows Defender
  • click on Tools, General Settings
  • scroll down and uncheck Turn on real-time protection (recommended)
  • after you uncheck this, click on the Save button and close Windows Defender.
===================================================

Note: If you have MalwareBytes Anti-Malware 1.6 or higher installed and are using the Pro version or trial version, please temporarily disable it for the duration of this fix as it may interfere with the successfully execution of the script below.

  • let the program run unhindered, reboot when it is done
  • please post the OTL fix log
===================================================

Now that some programs have been disabled, try running aswMBR again.

If it still won’t run, try running it in Safe Mode:
  • restart your computer.
  • when the machine first starts again it will generally list some equipment that is installed in your machine, amount of memory, hard drives installed etc. At this point you should gently tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with the Windows Advanced Boot Options menu
  • select the option for Safe Mode using the arrow keys
  • then press Enter on your keyboard to boot into Safe Mode.
You should then be presented with the Windows Login screen. Log in to Windows.

Logs to include in the next post:

Do I have to run everything with the Mozilla browser on??? It is still infected, i'm still getting redirected automatically to a lame website and pop ups happen every 3 seconds.
Still nothing obvious showing up and absolutely no sign of "Crossrider" in any logs.

Let'’s look at it from another log. Please log on as the user who is having Firefox redirect problems.

Satchfan
please log on as the person who is having firefox redirect problems??? does that mean i start a new thread????????

i am using firefox right now….. there is an annoying pop up that flashes on the left bottom corner of my screen right now SYSTEM WARNING,YOUR PC IS ABOUT TO CRASH……… it shakes, it moves, you can hit hide ad,but it doesn't ever truly go away, it still takes up part of the screen, then a huge green download button is put on my homepage, YOUR FILE IS READY NOW it says above it….then there is also another grey screen that pops in whenever i redirect …. like when i go from msn to the email page…or when in email, i click on your email to read it….it goes to this grey screen from cloud front.net telling me :

the page at http://my-uq.com says: warning. your flash player may be out of date……. this happens constantly, repeatedly, it is always there now when i use firefox. it was exactly the same with internet explorer, but after a few tries, i at least managed to get thru and right now there are no shaking pop ups telling me my system is crashing, there are not pop ups about having 13 Trojans, this shaking pop up will just go on and on trying to get me to go to all sorts of websites….it is not happening with internet explorer now, nor is that grey screen automatically popping up either

so i am assuming you want a new thread with a title having firefox redirect problems.

oh,there is another pop up right now on my screen right over the emotions….it's a little box with what looks like a grey building or lines , had 3 messages in it the last time i was online with you…now it has one . It is purportedly from "Safe Monitor" and tells me it found the following: Quantcast http://edge.quantserve.com/quant.js. IS THIS FROM YOU? GENERATED BY YOU? I CAN also click on a history within this box.

ok, i'm starting a new thread and going to do the combofix

does that mean i start a new thread????????

You don't need to start a new thread, just log on to your computer as the person who has the firefox problem.
