Hi ptaerehsahh,

Following steps involve registry editing. Please create new restore point before proceeding!!!

=========================

1. Create a Restore Point - - name it Registry Edit Legacy Keys

=========================

2. Download Vista.zip

Download Vista.zip file from here: http://www.smartestcomputing.us.com/files/…y-network-keys/
  • Unzip downloaded file.
  • You'll find several files inside.
  • Double-click legacy_nsiproxy.reg and confirm the prompt.
  • Double-click legacy_mpssvc.reg and confirm the prompt.
  • Double-click legacy_wscsvc.reg and confirm the prompt.
  • Double-click legacy_bfe.reg and confirm the prompt.
  • Double-click legacy_sdrsvc.reg and confirm the prompt.
  • Double-click legacy_bits.reg and confirm the prompt.
=========================

3. Reboot

=========================

4. Re-run Farbar Service Scanner
  • Make sure the following options are checked:
    • Internet Services
    • Windows Firewall
    • System Restore
    • Security Center
    • Windows Update
    • Windows Defender
  • Press "Scan".
  • It will create a log (FSS.txt) in the same directory the tool is run.
  • Please copy and paste the log to your reply.
=========================

In your next post please provide the following:
  • FSS.txt
Hi ptaerehsahh,

Yes, you can make a restore point in Safe Mode, and no it doesn't mean you won't be able to boot normally.

Set a System Restore Point in Windows Vista
  • Open System by clicking the Start button, right-clicking Computer, and then clicking Properties.
  • In the left pane, click System Protection. (If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation).
  • Click the System Protection tab, and then click Create.
  • In the System Protection dialog box, type a description, and then click Create.
Then continue with the remainder of the steps
I know I am bugging you to death and I'm sorry but there is no "CREATE" button… I followed the link you gave me.. But these instructions do NOT take me to where I need to be. I tried going into computer another way…. still NO CREATE…… I then tried it on this computer "mine" … It's exactly as the tutorial describes. .. I'm at a loss…..
Hi ptaerehsahh,,

I know I am bugging you to death and I'm sorry but there is no "CREATE" button…

You're fine, you are not bugging me. Although I will admit it's a bit perplexing as to why the steps don't take you to the correct place.

OK, let's skip the restore point for now. Please continue with backing up the Registry then running steps 2 - 4 in post #47

=========================
