My 2 cd drives do not show up in my computer. When i go to device manager i see the yellow warning sign next to them. Tried to uninstall and reinstall, update/rollback driver. Also googled and tried the registry delete upper and lower filters. Still does not show up or work. Code 19. Any input ? Thanks
Code 19 errors revolve around the driver and it's registry information as a single element. If one of these two pieces of the whole malfunctions, the other is useless.

Considering that all CD drivers are essentially a generic Windows driver regardless of optical drive brand (you can't upgrade or roll them back), this Code 19 sounds like a registry error problem. Have you been using a registry cleaner or optimizer (these programs are often the cause of registry errors) ?

Also googled and tried the registry delete upper and lower filters.

If you have made any changes to the registry, undo them (if possible). Avoid registry "fixes" unless from an official Microsoft Support site and always make a registry back-up first.

To make sure the CD driver has not installed incorrectly, uninstall it and reboot which will re-install the driver.

See if this works. If not, you have a corrupted registry.
The only registry stuff I may of used would be something from here I was told to use over the years wheni had malware. I did try the uninstall and reboot… still nothing
In that case try running sfc /scannow (note the space between c and / ) from the RUN box.
This command will immediately initiate the Windows File Protection service to scan all protected files and verify their integrity, replacing any files with which it finds a problem (if it can).
came up with error. files that are needed wor windows to run properly must be copied from the dll cache. Insert windows xp cd now. I have no idea where that cd is. If i click more info i see… you have insterted the wrong cd the cd-rom drive in your system is not functioning.
Idealy you insert a XP CD but as your CD drive does not work:

On another computer with a working CD drive you need a copy of the I386 folder from your own or someone else's Windows XP CD to install on your hard drive (about 500 MB in size). Don't autoplay the CD, you need to open/explore it and find and copy the 1386 folder (about 500MB in size) to a flash drive.

1.Install the 1386 folder to C:\windows on your computer.
2. The next step is to let Windows know where to find the files
3. Enter regedit into run box to start the Registry Editor
4. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Setup
5. Double-click the value SourcePath in the right pane and enter the location where you copied the I386 folder C:\windows\1386 (that's assuming your XP operating system is on C:)
6. Close the registry editor, and log off from Windows, or restart your computer for the setting to take effect.

Run sfc /scannow again.
Not good news I'm afraid. Even if you have a legal copy of Windows XP installed but you're missing your Windows XP CD, you could argue that, since you did actually purchase XP and you have a valid product key, downloading a Windows XP CD ISO image from anywhere should be within your rights. I tend to agree with that argument, but Microsoft does not. I was looking for a legal download ISO of the 1386 folder but the 1386 folder cannot be download from legal sources either and then remembered that XP can actually be installed from that folder, so there is Microsoft's reasoning behind that :( I'm sorry that I can't be of any futher help.
