Hi,
I live in Holland.
Trying to buy a High Definition tv. Seen several on web that claim Full HD.
However , when I go look into full technical details this is what I come across,
Full HD Yes full HD—–then,
HD ready———-NO!!!!!!!!!!5500-Serie 40PFL5507H/12.
What does this mean? Am I missing something? Please enlighten!
PS. This is the same in case of other makes.
usually it means yes they can display a full high definition picture, but the tv tuner built into the tv is not capable of receiving the hd channels with the extra information that is contained in them to create a true hd picture.
here in the uk, our digital channels can be received by a dvb-t tuner but to receive the hd channels with the extra info to display the better picture we need a dvb-t2 tuner, so unless the tv has a dvb-t2 tuner built into it even tho the screen can display a full hd picture, you won't get a true hd picture displayed unless you add a separate hd digital box with a dvb-t2 tuner.
so yes the tv is hd capable but it depends on the tuner built into it, if you will actually get to see the hd channels without adding a separate hd digital box.
i see it can display a full hd picture of 1920x1080p
but the tuner is only dvb-t capable so no receiving hd channels without adding a separate hd box here in the uk.
Tuner/Reception/Transmission
Digital TV: DVB-C MPEG2*, DVB-C MPEG4*, DVB-T MPEG2*, DVB-T MPEG4*
Video Playback: NTSC, PAL, SECAM
sorry i can't give you a definite answer because you live in holland but after reading this :- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_telev…the_Netherlands where it says you get your tv mostly by cable (dvb-c ) then i do believe with that tv you would get the full hd channels with the tuner built into it, even tho i wouldn't here in the uk.
from what i can see the 2nd tv is more or less the same as the first except the first is also a 3d tv which the 2nd is not and the 2nd also has a built in satellite tuner (dvb-s) which the first does not, both are full hd (1920x1080p) capable.
my personal choice for tv's is samsung, but to be honest most brands give good picture quality.
the best thing to do is always go to a few shops that sell tv's have a good look at them all, check out both picture and sound quality and ask the staff any questions you need answering like if it will pick up hd channels without needing any other devices, when you decide on the perfect tv for you, then start looking on the internet to see if you can get a good deal for one.
