Hi,

I think I may have spyware or something on my computer. Recently I've noticed that whenever I do searches in google and I go to click on the link, the link changes to hxxp://googleads.g.doubleclick.net/2url?sa=L&... (this really long url) before it redirects me to the page that page that I want.

I have done a full system scan using MSE and malwarebytes but nothng has been detected.

I'm afraid to click on any links in google now.

Hoping someone can help.

Thanks.

< End of report >
Hi and Welcome!! :) My name is Jeff. I would be more than happy to take a look at your malware results logs and help you with solving any malware problems you might have. Logs can take a while to research, so please be patient and know that I am working hard to get you a clean and functional system back in your hands. I'd be grateful if you would note the following:
  • The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for the issues on this machine.
  • It's often worth reading through these instructions and printing them for ease of reference.
  • If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to say or ask!! It's better to be sure and safe than sorry.
  • Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
  • If you happen to have a flash drive/thumb drive please have that ready in the event that we need to use it.
IMPORTANT NOTE : Please do not delete, download or install anything unless instructed to do so.
DO NOT use any TOOLS such as Combofix or HijackThis fixes without supervision. Doing so could make your system inoperable and could require a full reinstall of your Operating System and losing all your programs and data.

Having said that….Let's get going!!
———-

Please download aswMBR to your desktop.

  • Double click the aswMBR icon to run it.
  • Click the Scan button to start scan.
  • If you are asked to update the Avast Virus database please allow it to do so.
  • When it finishes, press the save log button, save the logfile to your desktop and post its contents in your next reply.

Hi,

**WARNING**Unfortunately one or more of the infections I have identified are Backdoor Trojans, IRCBots or other Malware capable of stealing very important information. You need to stop using all Internet Banking sites, change passwords to all sites with sensitive information from a clean computer and phone your bank to inform them that you may be a victim of identify theft. More often than not, we advise users that a full reinstallation of their Operating System is the only way to ensure that their computer will ever be 100% clean again.

Unfortunately I have found what is known as the ZeroAccess rootkit on your system. It is an especially nasty infection that can take quite some time to clean as well as may have damaged your system files itself. As a warning, during the cleaning (if you choose to do so) you may lose internet access with this computer and in the end we may need to reinstall the operating system anyway depending on the extent of the infection.

If you would like to format and reinstall your Operating System please let me know and we can assist you with that.

If you would like to continue with the cleaning, please continue with the following instructions and I will be more than happy to help. :)

Download Combofix from the link below, and save it to your desktop.

Right-Click and Run as Administrator on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it will produce a report for you.
  • Please post the C:\ComboFix.txt for further review.

Hi Jeff, If we do a full reinstallation, does that mean I will lose all my files currently stored on C drive as well as all my other partitioned drives? I have a lot of files that could take days to backup. Also, how long does a full installation take? I am very worried about doing this as I have no idea how to do it. If we do a clean up and it doesn't fix the problem, can we still do a reinstallation then? How long does ComboFix take to run? It's late now and I'm not sure if I should do it now or tomorrow.
Hi, Great questions. In my opinion, with this infection the best option is to reinstall your operating system to be sure that it is gone. We can clean it, but you can never be absolutely sure that it will be gone because of its backdoor capabilities. I personally would reinstall my system. Now the good part is that you can go ahead and save all of your pictures, music, personal files and the like without worry. Once you have those backed up to a disk you will be able to put them back on your clean operating system. :) We can still attempt to clean your system of course. It is your choice what you would like to do. If you want to attempt the cleaning go ahead and run ComboFix and post the log when it completes.
Hi Jeff, Is it just windows that would need to be reinstalled onto C drive? Will my files on my other drives be ok or will they be wiped as well? I think we should do the reinstall, but I'm really worried I might so something wrong and then can't get my computer to work again. I will start backing up tomorrow. It's late here and I have to go to bed now. Please give me some time to back up everything.
Hi,

I am ready to reinstall windows 7.

Is that what you want to do…I thought we would try to fix it first if you like. I think it is worth a shot.

If you would like to try and fix it instead of reinstalling it do the following…

  • Click Start > Run type Notepad click OK.
  • This will open an empty Notepad file.
  • Copy/Paste the contents of the box below into Notepad.
    @echo off
    regedit.exe /e "%userprofile%\Desktop\look.txt" "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList"
    Notepad.exe %userprofile%\Desktop\look.txt
    Del look.txt
    Del %0
  • Click Format and ensure Wordwrap is unchecked.
  • Save as RegExp.bat
  • Save as file type All Files or it won't work.
  • Now double click on RegExp.bat to run it.
  • A file look.txt will open on your Desktop, please post the contents in your next reply.
I thought it would be best to reinstall because I want to safe but if we can fix it, that would be great. Here is the result of the look.txt file: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList] "ProfilesDirectory"=hex(2):25,00,53,00,79,00,73,00,74,00,65,00,6d,00,44,00,72,\ 00,69,00,76,00,65,00,25,00,5c,00,55,00,73,00,65,00,72,00,73,00,00,00 "Default"=hex(2):25,00,53,00,79,00,73,00,74,00,65,00,6d,00,44,00,72,00,69,00,\ 76,00,65,00,25,00,5c,00,55,00,73,00,65,00,72,00,73,00,5c,00,44,00,65,00,66,\ 00,61,00,75,00,6c,00,74,00,00,00 "Public"=hex(2):25,00,53,00,79,00,73,00,74,00,65,00,6d,00,44,00,72,00,69,00,76,\ 00,65,00,25,00,5c,00,55,00,73,00,65,00,72,00,73,00,5c,00,50,00,75,00,62,00,\ 6c,00,69,00,63,00,00,00 "ProgramData"=hex(2):25,00,53,00,79,00,73,00,74,00,65,00,6d,00,44,00,72,00,69,\ 00,76,00,65,00,25,00,5c,00,50,00,72,00,6f,00,67,00,72,00,61,00,6d,00,44,00,\ 61,00,74,00,61,00,00,00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\S-1-5-18] "Flags"=dword:0000000c "State"=dword:00000000 "RefCount"=dword:00000001 "Sid"=hex:01,01,00,00,00,00,00,05,12,00,00,00 "ProfileImagePath"=hex(2):25,00,73,00,79,00,73,00,74,00,65,00,6d,00,72,00,6f,\ 00,6f,00,74,00,25,00,5c,00,73,00,79,00,73,00,74,00,65,00,6d,00,33,00,32,00,\ 5c,00,63,00,6f,00,6e,00,66,00,69,00,67,00,5c,00,73,00,79,00,73,00,74,00,65,\ 00,6d,00,70,00,72,00,6f,00,66,00,69,00,6c,00,65,00,00,00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\S-1-5-19] "ProfileImagePath"=hex(2):43,00,3a,00,5c,00,57,00,69,00,6e,00,64,00,6f,00,77,\ 00,73,00,5c,00,53,00,65,00,72,00,76,00,69,00,63,00,65,00,50,00,72,00,6f,00,\ 66,00,69,00,6c,00,65,00,73,00,5c,00,4c,00,6f,00,63,00,61,00,6c,00,53,00,65,\ 00,72,00,76,00,69,00,63,00,65,00,00,00 "Flags"=dword:00000000 "State"=dword:00000000 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\S-1-5-20] "ProfileImagePath"=hex(2):43,00,3a,00,5c,00,57,00,69,00,6e,00,64,00,6f,00,77,\ 00,73,00,5c,00,53,00,65,00,72,00,76,00,69,00,63,00,65,00,50,00,72,00,6f,00,\ 66,00,69,00,6c,00,65,00,73,00,5c,00,4e,00,65,00,74,00,77,00,6f,00,72,00,6b,\ 00,53,00,65,00,72,00,76,00,69,00,63,00,65,00,00,00 "Flags"=dword:00000000 "State"=dword:00000000 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\S-1-5-21-511611439-945934297-1488321886-1001] "ProfileImagePath"=hex(2):43,00,3a,00,5c,00,55,00,73,00,65,00,72,00,73,00,5c,\ 00,4b,00,49,00,45,00,55,00,00,00 "Flags"=dword:00000000 "State"=dword:00000000 "Sid"=hex:01,05,00,00,00,00,00,05,15,00,00,00,2f,92,7e,1e,d9,cf,61,38,5e,fd,b5,\ 58,e9,03,00,00 "ProfileLoadTimeLow"=dword:00000000 "ProfileLoadTimeHigh"=dword:00000000 "RefCount"=dword:00000002 "RunLogonScriptSync"=dword:00000000
Great Job!

First open a command prompt > Click Start > Run > and type cmd and press Enter.
This will open the command prompt.

Copy the contents of the code box > right click in the command window and select paste >> Press Enter (do one line at a time if there are more than one)
chkdsk /r
Accept any prompts. When complete, reboot your system and let me know if you can boot into your normal profile correctly.
After I pasted the code and hit enter, it says:

Access denied as I do not have sufficient privileges.
You have to invoke this utility running in elevated mode.

What do I do?
Don't worry about running chkdsk /r.

Go ahead and run ComboFix utilizing the instructions that I posted earlier and post the log that is created. :)
