The infection is preventing aswMBR from running.

Try the following tool. It may not run either, so don't be alarmed.

  • TDSSKiller

    Please download TDSSKiller.

    • Extract it to your desktop
    • Double click TDSSKiller.exe
    • When the window opens, click on Change parameters
    • Under ”Additional options”, put a check mark in the box next to “Detect TDLFS file system”
    • Click OK
    • Press Start Scan
    • IMPORTANT: As we are only looking for a log of what is on the machine right now, choose to Skip whatever is found
    • Then click Continue > Reboot now
  • Copy and paste the log in your next reply
    • A copy of the log will be saved automatically to the root of the drive (typically C:\)
No, that doesn't run either. I thought I had taken care of the virus that is hiding all of the icons and folders, but none of the things I have downloaded for this removal are on the desktop and the computer also randomly plays audio commercials even though no windows or progams are open. I think there are more issues than just FBI Moneypak, but you probably know that by looking at all of these logs. I thought I'd mention it just in case. Also, Security Essentials found something and removed it during a scan. I don't know what it was or if it matter. Pam
Please disable any real-time security programs such as your anti-virus before proceeding with this scan.

Let's try running the Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool.

Download the tool from here and save it to your desktop.

Double click the set up icon to install it > click Run > Select your language > follow the steps in the wizard to install it. (This will take a few minutes to install)

When the tool launches, click the gear at the top right and make sure the following objects are selected under scan scope:

  • System memory
  • Hidden startup objects
  • Disk boot sectors
  • Local Disk (C:)
Now click Automatic Scan at the top left and Start scanning.

Allow it to remove any threats (choose the "select this option for all items")

This scan will take quite a while.

Once the scan has completed > select the report button at the top right > choose "save" > post the content of the report in your next reply
When I click on the link for Kaspersky I was directed to a page to supply name and email address. When I did that, I was directed to a page to choose a version. I chose ver 11, english and was directed to a HTTP 404 not found Web Page Cannot Be Found. I cannot download this Kaspersky program.
Disregard my last message. I was able to access that web page from a clean computer and save to a jump drive. I was able to install Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool and it is running now.
Your web site kicks me off when I try to paste this entire log and it will not upload either, so I was going to try to send it in sections but even that is telling me two minutes worth of scan is too long for a post. The log is almost 68,000kb. Please let me know how you'd like me to proceed. Thanks, Pam
When I powered up the computer today, the FBI MoneyPak is back covering the entire screen. Should I go back to the beginning of this thread and start from square one? The computer was working just ok yesterday after running kaspersky. It was very slow but I could still access everything, so I don't know what happened overnight to bring this back. When I saw filedropper requires me to agree to paypal, I got kind of uncomfortable with that, so I'm trying my MSN skydrive for the first time. Hopefully this url works for you.
I take it you can't access your computer anymore?

Please perform the following steps on a clean PC. We are going to be putting a small Linux distro on a flash drive so we can boot to it on your infected PC.

  • Download and save a copy of the latest Slacko Puppy ISO file
  • Download and save a copy of Unetbootin for Windows.
  • Insert an empty formatted USB drive into a USB port on the computer that's being used to create the bootable USB.
  • Launch Unetbootin ….

[external image: Posted Image]

  • Ensure that Disk Image is selected.
  • Using the browse button … browse to and select the Puppy ISO file.
  • Ensure that Type: is set to USB Drive and that the Drive: letter corresponds to the USB drive.
  • Click OK

Next

You need to change the boot order of the infected computer to boot from a USB drive ….

Read HERE for instructions how to do this.

When fully booted you should see a Desktop similar to the one below.

[external image: Posted Image]

Next

Click on each of the drive items found in the bottom left corner to mount them (when mounted they will have a red cross next to them). In this example SDA is the hard drive and has 3 partitions, SDB is the USB drive that Puppy was loaded from.

[external image: Posted Image]

Next

Launch GParted which is found at Menu > System > GParted partition manager, when launched the following box will open ….

[external image: Posted Image]

Click to select All Drives then click Okay

GParted will scan the computer and then display a window similar to this ….

[external image: Posted Image]

To take a screenshot in Puppy ….

With the GParted window open …

  • Click menu > Graphic > mtPaint-snapshot screen capture
  • A small window will open ….
    • Click Capture Now
    • Click OK
  • The mtPaint program will open ….
    • Click File > Save
    • Double click on ../
    • Double click on mnt/
    • Double click on sdb1/ (or whatever corresponds to your flash drive)
    • Set File Format to JPEG
    • Enter screenshot1 into the text box
    • Click OK

This will save a file screenshot1.jpeg into the USB drive.

Next

Click menu > shutdown > power off computer
If prompted to save the session click on No

Puppy will now close down.

Please post screenshot1.jpg in your next reply.
  • Boot into Puppy
  • Mount all drives
  • Click menu > System > GParted partition manager
  • Select to scan all drives.
  • When the scan is complete you should see exactly what you posted in the screenshot from earlier.
  • Right click on sda2, which should be the 55.82 GB partition, and select Manage Flags
  • Check the boot flag option
  • Click Close, and GParted will add the boot flag to sda2
Remove the USB drive, then click menu > shutdown > reboot computer to boot the computer back into Windows.

Are you able to get back into Windows? If so, how is your computer running?
After following your instructions, I can log in to my screen name and the computer appears as if I'll be able to use it, but then the screen turns white and the FBI MoneyPak is there again. This is the craziest thing I've ever seen! Pam
Hi gargoyle1210, Let's get another scan with FRST using the instructions from earlier. Please just post FRST.txt; you don't need to search for services.exe this time.
