Hello I am attempting to learn to use the task scheduler. However, there is an entry in the library called Ccleaner which has 'skip UAC' after it and it is 'ready'. I do not want Ccleaner to run on a schedule so where and how do I rectify this? Thank you PS I unchecked update automatically in the program and rebooted but the entry remains in the library as it was. I do not wnt to run the cleaner. Is the library not the place to be making changes and I need to look into active tasks;it does not appear there.
Peter, for the CCleaner task, click on Task Scheduler Library at top left. Click on the CCleaner task. Over in the right pane, click on Disable. Also, to slake my curiosity, would you right click on the CCleaner task and select Export then save it somewhere you can find it. It will create a .xml file. Please copy and past the info in it (you can edit it by right clicking on it and selecting Edit) to a reply here. Thanks.
R I unchecked 'auto updates' in Ccleaner yesterday and when I went to the Task Scheduler library , Ccleaner was gone. I wanted to send you the .xml file so I rechecked it, rebooted but Ccleaner never came back. So I cannot do as you ask with Ccleaner -sorry. However, Lojack, Skpe and SidebarExecute are there. I exported the last to desktop and sent the .xml file toyou that way as an attachment. I notice you can right click on the library items but not the active tasks. Is it the library where you make changes? I noticed I could not open the attachment so I guess my means of doing this does not work;is there another way? P

Where are you seeing these? I have neither that I can find. I was curious about CCleaner as I have never seen it create a Scheduled task.
I am up in MA on vacation but have tried to attend to messages. I think this began when you asked to see the log file from Ccleaner. I had already disabled automatic updates at the program itself so it no longer appeared in the library. The library is where I see the entries I was refering to. I tried many ways to send you the log file you requested with lojack and sidebar execute. I do not knw if what you see is a log file. For Ccleaner there was an entry so I went to the program and unchecked atomatically update the program. Then when I reboted it disappeared from the task scheduler. I rechecked it but it has not reappeared. We can probably abandon this if you agree.
Yes, let it go unless it comes back.

BTW: I have CCleaner set to Automatically check for updates but no entry in Task Scheduler.

Oh well. Keep an eye on it and come back if it happens again.

Enjoy your vacation in Hot Hot Hot Maryland.

It's been cooler here in central Florida that most places in the northeast.
Rich Since I checked Ccleaner to enable automatic updayes, it never came back on my end either. I'll let you know if it reappears. I live in MD and am in MA where I came from for vacation. We retired to Fl for 3 years till I becme ill then moved near my daughter just in case. Those years in Fl were the best. Unlike you, we were on the west coast - Naples - with the rest of the relics. Btw, to send a log file, don't you edit to legible then copy and paste it to the destination? Peter
Depends on the type of log file. If it's xml then just copy and paste. If it's some other non-readable format, zip it then upload.

The file that was created by Ccleaner was.xml yet I was not able to copy and paste it. That is why there was so much scribling and attempts to send it to you. I tried right clicking but there was no copy option.
It was not legible so I will keep in mind to zip it; I do not remember right clicking and seeing zip as an option either.
I have the answer which I will try to do if there is a next time -thank you.
Just right click on the .xml file and select Edit. Ctrl+A to select all then Ctrl+C to copy. Start a post here and do a Ctrl+V to paste. You should also be able to double click on the .xml file and it will open in IE (probably). Can't do anything with it other than look at it and copy and paste.
Is this correct? It was sidebar.exe true S-1-5-32-545 LeastPrivilege IgnoreNew true true true false false PT10M PT1H true false true false false false false true false PT72H 7 C:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar\sidebar.exe /addGadget
