Hi,

I'm trying to locate the .dll file which contains this icon

📎Router_Icon.jpg (this is currently on my system)

I've tried looking in the following places:
'%SystemRoot%\System32\imageres.dll'
&
'%SystemRoot%\System32\shell32.dll '
but to no avail.
Try this:

Right click on the icon and select properties.

Then click on Change Icon.

In the window that opens… the files where the icon resides should show in the default box at the top.

Hi TomK,

I have already tried this & the default icon is this:

I would expect that to be in a Netgear file.

Hi Ztruker,
I can't seem to find any on my system. It must be somewhere if it's displayed on my desktop surely

No Netgear folders under Program File or Program Files (x86)? Any Netgear entry in All Progtrams? If so, right click on it and select Properties. For instance, for my Belkin router, the Start In value was "C:\Program Files (x86)\Belkin\Router Setup and Monitor"
The file itself is an internet shortcut which takes me to my home i.p address / Netgear Router configuration page.
I then changed the icon to the one pictured from the same icon which 'was' displayed in Network and Internet/Network and Sharing Center & was viewable as a device.
What's the target file of the shortcut? I'm betting that the target is an .exe file. If it is, click on change icon and then put the target file in the "look for icons in" box.

What's the target file of the shortcut?

There isn't alterer location, it's an Internet shortcut, located here:'C:\Users\Dan\Desktop\NETGEAR DGN2000.url'

I'm betting that the target is an .exe file. If it is, click on change icon and then put the target file in the "look for icons in" box.

It's not an .exe, it's a 'Internet Shortcut (.url)'
Sometimes when the screen resolution is changed to 16 Bit the icon changes to a Globe (pictured).
📎Home_Address.jpg
True! But the questions still remains to the whereabouts of this icon
