I have some type of malware/virus that directs me to other links, usually when I've done a google search. I've tried removing it with MalwareBytes and I use NOD as my virus protector. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Here are my dds logs: . Hello jockster789 and :welcome:

My name is JonTom

  • Malware Logs can sometimes take a lot of time to research and interpret.
  • Please be patient while I try to assist with your problem. If at any time you do not understand what is required, please ask for further explanation.
  • Please note that there is no "Quick Fix" to modern malware infections and we may need to use several different approaches to get your system clean.
  • Read every reply you receive carefully and thoroughly before carrying out the instructions. You may also find it helpful to print out the instructions you receive, as in some instances you may have to disconnect your computer from the Internet.
  • PLEASE NOTE: If you do not reply after 3 days your thread will be closed.

Please post the log created from the following tools:

  • Please scan your system with GMER

    [external image: Posted Image]
Download GMER Rootkit Scanner from here or here.
    • Extract the contents of the zipped file to desktop.
    • Double click GMER.exe. If asked to allow gmer.sys driver to load, please consent.
    • If it gives you a warning about rootkit activity and asks if you want to run scan…click on NO.
    • In the right panel, you will see several boxes that have been checked. Uncheck the following …
      • IAT/EAT
      • Drives/Partition other than Systemdrive (typically C:\)
      • Show All (don't miss this one)
    • Then click the Scan button & wait for it to finish.
    • Once done click on the [Save..] button, and in the File name area, type in "Gmer.txt" or it will save as a .log file which cannot be uploaded to your post.
    • Save it where you can easily find it, such as your desktop, and post it in your reply.

    **Caution**
Rootkit scans often produce false positives. Do NOT take any action on any "<— ROOTKIT" entries

  • aswMBR

    • Download aswMBR.exe to your desktop.
    • Double click the aswMBR.exe to run it.
    • When asked if you want to download Avast's virus definitions please select Yes.
    • Click the "Scan" button to start scan.

    [external image: Posted Image]

    • On completion of the scan click save log, save it to your desktop and post in your next reply.

    [external image: Posted Image]

Please post the GMER log and the aswMBR log in your next reply. If you encounter any problems with the scans come back and let me know.
Thank you so much for your help. Here are the logs:

Hello jockster789

Thank you for the logs.

If you use this machine for any kind of financial transactions please go to an uninfected system and change all of your passwords.

  • Please create a System Restore point

    • Click on "Start" > "All Programs" > "Accessories" > "System tools" > "System Restore".
    • In the dialogue box that appears select "Create a Restore Point".
    • Click "Next".
    • Enter a name
    • e.g. Todays date.
    • Click "Create".

  • TDSS Killer

    • Please read carefully and follow these steps.
    • Download TDSSKiller and save it to your Desktop.
    • Extract its contents to your desktop.
    • Once extracted, open the TDSSKiller folder and Right click on TDSSKiller.exe and select "Run as Administrator" to run the application.
    • When the window opens, click on Change Parameters.
    • Under ”Additional options”, put a check mark in the box next to “Detect TDLFS File System”.
    • Click on Start Scan.
    • If an infected file is detected, the default action will be Cure, click on Continue.
    • If a suspicious file is detected, the default action will be Skip, click on Continue.
    • It may ask you to reboot the computer to complete the process. Click on Reboot Now.
    • If no reboot is required, click on Report. A log file should appear. Please copy and paste the contents of that file here.
    • If a reboot is required, the report can also be found in your root directory, (usually C:\ folder) in the form of "TDSSKiller.[Version]_[Date]_[Time]_log.txt". Please copy and paste the contents of that file here.

  • Combofix

    • Download ComboFix from one of the following locations:

      Link 1
      Link 2

    • VERY IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

    • IMPORTANT - Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. If you have difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, refer to this link here .
    • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.

    • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
    • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.
    • Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

    [external image: Posted Image]

    • Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

    [external image: Posted Image]

    • Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.
    • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.
    • Notes: Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
    • Do not "re-run" Combofix. If you have a problem, reply back for further instructions.
    • Should there be issues with internet afterward:

In IE: Tools Menu -> Internet Options -> Connections Tab -> Lan Settings -> uncheck "use a proxy server" or reconfigure the Proxy server again in case you have set it previously.

In Firefox: Tools Menu -> Options… -> Advanced Tab -> Network Tab -> "Settings" under Connection and uncheck the proxyserver, set it to No Proxy.

Please post the TDSSKiller log and the Combofix log in your next reply.
Ok Thanks.

Here are the logs. Combofix stalled three straight times in a row so I had to run it in Safe Mode.

Also, Was I supposed to go ahead and set Firefox to No Proxy? I did.

  • Note: These logs can be located in the OTL. folder on you C:\ drive if they fail to open automatically.
  • Please Copy and Paste the contents of both files in your next reply. You may need two posts to fit them both in.
Yes, I just checked Internet Explorer and I am being redirected in both it and Firefox.

  • Once you have pasted the information into the Custom Scans/Fixes box, click the "Run Fix" button at the top.
  • Allow the program to run unhindered.
  • Your machine will re-start itself. This is normal.
  • A log will be created after your machine reboots. Please post the contents of the log in your next reply.

Please post the log in your next reply and let me know how the machine is running now.
Ok, here is the log for OTL.

Just a note: almost every time I have shut down my computer, the "not responding window" has popped up for the rundll32 program or whatever it is. It also happened with the reboot for OTL and I had to click the End Now button. I just wanted to make sure it didn't affect anything or the cleaning of files.

Thanks
Ryan
