Hi,

Let's see if this can clean it up…

Run OTL.exe
  • Copy/paste the following text written inside of the code box into the Custom Scans/Fixes box located at the bottom of OTL

    :Services

    :Files
    C:\Microgaming\Casino\32Red\install.exe
    C:\Microgaming\Casino\Ladbrokes\install.exe
    C:\Microgaming\Poker\32RedMPP\install.exe
    C:\Microgaming\Poker\BetwaypokerMPP\install.exe
    C:\Microgaming\Poker\LadbrokesMPP\install.exe
    C:\Microgaming\Poker\NordicBetMPP\install.exe
    C:\Microgaming\Poker\stanjamesgibMPP\install.exe
    C:\Microgaming\Poker\unibetpokerMPP\install.exe
    C:\Users\ONewbieO\Downloads\setup.exe
    ipconfig /flushdns /c

    :Commands
    [purity]
    [emptytemp]
    [resethosts]
    [start explorer]
    [Reboot]
  • Then click the Run Fix button at the top
  • Let the program run unhindered, reboot when it is done
  • Then run a new scan and post a new OTL log ( don't check the boxes beside LOP Check or Purity this time )
———-
A file cant seem to be created , i forgot what was it already . I did OTL Twice and the first time it said some kind of file cannot be created . There must be a log file for that but i'm not sure where to get it .

Anyway , here are the results of the FIX OTL log .

< End of report >
Received this when i restarted lappy . ERU for Windows NT Unable to create file C:/Windows/ERDNT/AutoBackup/8-4-2012/ERDNT.INF Registry backup will continue , but no restore information for the ERDNT program will be saved . This means that later restoration of the registry can only be done manually , by using another OS to copy back the files . This is followed by lots of Error saving file and asking me to continue with next file . i clicked on all of them .
Update on the whole scenario of the problem now . 1 . Black Screen definitely disappeared . Didnt see them anymore . 2 . The software which i downloaded prior to fixing my last machine with ping.exe problem . Avira Antivirus , Online Armour . These 2 programs seems to affect the usage of my flash in chrome. Its causing it to malfunction . If i disable it , videos that are being watched will work smoothly . But if i enable it , the lags will come along sometimes . Other than that , machine works fine right now .

Black Screen definitely disappeared . Didnt see them anymore .

You could always try another antivirus programs like either of these following two…just be sure to uninstall Avira. I recommend either of these…
Microsoft Security Essentials
Avast

As for Online Armor I think it is a good firewall, but if you are using a wireless router, I would just use the Windows Firewall. The wireless router acts as a firewall itself. :)

When you first ran OTL there should have been a log named Extras.txt created. Could you post that please. :)
Like to ask a question before we proceed further . So far , i have 2 users on my laptop . One is a guest account , one is equipped with administrator abilities . I've been using the one with administrator abilities to perform the scans so far . Is that good enough ? Or do i need to load up via safe mode to do whatever is necessary ?
Hi,

No such logs found .

Ok please do the following…
Please open OTL.

  • Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
  • When the window appears, click the None button near the top (it may looked greyed out)
  • In the Extra Registry section change it to All
  • Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
When the scan completes, it will open 2 notepad windows, OTL.Txt and Extra.txt. Please post the Extra.txt.

As for your other question we should be just fine.

Hi,

Providing there are no more malware related problems…

IT APPEARS THAT YOUR LOGS ARE NOW CLEAN :D SO LETS DO A COUPLE OF THINGS TO WRAP THIS UP!! :D

This infection appears to have been cleaned, but I can not give you any absolute guarantees. As a precaution, I would go ahead and change all of your passwords as this is especially important after an infection.
———-

Clean up with OTL:
  • Right-click and Run as Administrator OTL.exe to start the program.
  • Close all other programs apart from OTL as this step will require a reboot
  • On the OTL main screen, press the CLEANUP button
  • Say Yes to the prompt and then allow the program to reboot your computer.
———-

Any of the logs that you created for use in the forums or remaining tools that have not yet been removed can be deleted using right-click > delete so they aren't cluttering up your desktop.

Here are some tips to reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future:

1. Make your Internet Explorer more secure - This can be done by following these simple instructions:
  • From within Internet Explorer click on the Tools menu and then click on Options.
  • Click once on the Security tab
  • Click once on the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
  • Click once on the Custom Level button.
  • Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt
  • Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable
  • Change the Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable
  • Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt
  • Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to Prompt
  • Change the Navigate sub-frames across different domains to Prompt
  • When all these settings have been made, click on the OK button.
  • If it prompts you as to whether or not you want to save the settings, press the Yes button.
  • Next press the Apply button and then the OK to exit the Internet Properties page.
2. Enable Protected Mode in Internet Explorer. This helps Windows Vista users stay more protected from attack by running Internet Explorer with restricted privileges as well as reducing the ability to write, alter or destroy data on your system or install malicious code. To make sure this is running follow these steps:
  • Open Internet Explorer
  • Click on Tools > Internet Options
  • Press Security tab
  • Select Internet zone then place check next to Enable Protected Mode if not already done
  • Do the same for Local Intranet, Trusted Sites and Restricted Sites and then press Apply
  • Restart Internet Explorer and in the bottom right corner of your screen you will see Protected Mode: On showing you it is enabled.
3. Use and update an anti-virus software - I can not overemphasize the need for you to use and update your anti-virus application on a regular basis. With the ever increasing number of new variants of malware arriving on the scene daily, you become very susceptible to an attack without updated protection.

4. Firewall
Using a third-party firewall will allow you to give/deny access for applications that want to go online. Without a firewall your computer is susceptible to being hacked and taken over. Simply using a firewall in its default configuration can lower your risk greatly. A tutorial on firewalls can be found here. **There are firewalls listed in this tutorial that could be downloaded and used but I would personally only recommend using one of the following two below:
Online Armor Free
Agnitum Outpost Firewall Free

5. Make sure you keep your Windows OS current. Windows XP users can visit Windows update regularly to download and install any critical updates and service packs. Windows Vista/7 users can open the Start menu > All Programs > Windows Update > Check for Updates (in left hand task pane) to update these systems. Without these you are leaving the back door open.

6. Consider a custom hosts file such as MVPS HOSTS. This custom hosts file effectively blocks a wide range of unwanted ads, banners, 3rd party Cookies, 3rd party page counters, web bugs, and many hijackers. For information on how to download and install, please read this tutorial by WinHelp2002
Note: Be sure to follow the instructions to disable the DNS Client service before installing a custom hosts file.

7. WOT (Web of Trust) As "Googling" is such an integral part of internet life, this free browser add on warns you about risky websites that try to scam visitors, deliver malware or send spam. It is especially helpful when browsing or searching in unfamiliar territory. WOT's color-coded icons show you ratings for 21 million websites, helping you avoid the dangerous sites. WOT has an add-on available for Firefox, Internet Explorer as well as Google Chrome.

8.Finally, I strongly recommend that you read TonyKlein's good advice So how did I get infected in the first place?

Please reply to this thread once more if you are satisfied so that we can mark the problem as resolved.
Point Number 1 , 2 can be followed promptly . Point Number 3 Question : I'm using Avira Antivirus . Hope that is good enough ? The update file was corrupted and since this repair work was being done , i have uninstalled it and downloaded a fresh copy . Point Number 4 Question : I have Online Armour . But the main question is in using Online Armour . I used to use it without any problems . In fact , one of the first things i have done since i got this new lappy was to download Online Armour and Avira Antivirus Plus Malware Bytes at that time as it was still fresh in my memory after i repaired one of my older machines . Right now , Online Armour is crashing with my google chromes videos , if i enable it , the videos will lag . Even though the logs are clean now , the youtube videos seems to be the same as before . Running smooth without Online Armour that is . However , the streaming videos are not running that smoothly now . Which baffles me to be honest . I wonder if there is any fix to this situation . Point Number 5 can be done daily . Not a problem with that . Point Number 6 Question : I need to give it a try and the tutorial first before i can ask you anything on that . By asking you whats a MVPS HOSTS defeats the purpose as i have not read the tutorial . Will look up Point Number 7 and 8 as well .
Hi,

Point Number 3 Question : I'm using Avira Antivirus . Hope that is good enough ? The update file was corrupted and since this repair work was being done , i have uninstalled it and downloaded a fresh copy .

Yes that is just fine. :)

I am going to look into the problem with Online Armour. It may be that it is just blocking some part of Google Chrome for some reason. Do you have the same problems in other browsers?
Hi again . I currently have 3 browsers on my lappy .

I have Internet Explorer , Firefox and google chrome .

Just tried watching A tennis stream from a legit site and have the following to report .

Internet Explorer - Ok with an occasional lag .

Firefox - Ok with an occasional lag .

Google chrome - Lagging furiously . Screen doesnt even show the ball properly .

Hi,

Point Number 3 Question : I'm using Avira Antivirus . Hope that is good enough ? The update file was corrupted and since this repair work was being done , i have uninstalled it and downloaded a fresh copy .

Yes that is just fine. :)

Final Question i believe . I don't get how MVPS thingy works . Could you explain ? Do i need to do anything on my side either than just downloading it ?
