**In any case where you happen to be busy or unable to give us a reply, we would be grateful if you keep us informed in advance and we will be more than happy to wait. Failure to do so we will have your thread closed in THREE(3) days. :)

Hello there, JuliusMaximus

:welcome:

I'm Conspire, I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems.

Please observe these rules while we work:
  • Read the entire procedure
  • It is important to perform ALL actions in sequence.
  • If you don't know, stop and ask! Don't keep going on.
  • Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
  • Stick with me till you're given the all clear.
  • Remember, absence of symptoms does not mean the infection is all gone.
  • Don't attempt to clean your computer with any tools other than the ones I ask you to use during the cleanup process.

IMPORTANT NOTE : Please do not delete anything unless instructed to. Remember to backup all your important data(if possible) before moving on.
I would need to take a further look on your system.

  • Please download GMER from one of the following locations, and save it to your desktop:
  • Main Mirror
This version will download a randomly named file (Recommended)
  • Zip Mirror
This version will download a zip file you will need to extract first. If you use this mirror, please extract the zip file to your desktop.
  • Extract the contents of the zipped file to desktop (applicable only to Zip mirror) .
  • Double click [external image: Posted Image] or [external image: Posted Image] on your desktop.
  • If it gives you a warning about rootkit activity and asks if you want to run scan…click on NO.
    [external image: Posted Image]

    [external image: Posted Image]
Click the image to enlarge it
  • In the right panel, you will see several boxes that have been checked. Uncheck the following …
    • IAT/EAT
    • Drives/Partition other than Systemdrive (typically C:\)
    • Show All (don't miss this one)
  • Then click the Scan button & wait for it to finish.
  • Once done click on the [Save..] button, and in the File name area, type in "Gmer.txt" or it will save as a .log file which cannot be uploaded to your post.
  • Save it where you can easily find it, such as your desktop, and attach it in your reply.
**Caution**
Rootkit scans often produce false positives. Do NOT take any action on any "<— ROOKIT" entries

===================================================

Please download aswMBR.exe and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click aswMBR.exe to start the tool. (Vista/Windows 7 users - right click to run as administrator)
  • Allow it to update where necessary
  • Click Scan

  • Upon completion of the scan, click Save log and save it to your desktop, and post that log in your next reply for review. Note - do NOT attempt any Fix yet.
  • You will also notice another file created on the desktop named MBR.dat. Right click that file and select Send To>Compressed (zipped) file. Attach that zipped file in your next reply as well.

On your next reply please post :
GMER log
aswMBR log

Please STOP and let me know if you have any problems in performing with the steps above or any questions you may have.

Good Day!
Conspire, what a treat to have you on-board to help me out, it is greatly appreciated. I have begun to take your steps and am currently running scans as I type this. Before I go on, and in lieu of the fact that no one had replied in two days (I understand y'all are busy) and I was getting antsy to remedy the problem (I hope you understand I am busy as well, & getting work backed-up), I searched the forums for similar issues and found one that was very akin to my crisis, I ran an "unhide" remedy suggested to that particular posting to reveal all my hidden files/archives & programs, it worked, and I can see my files again. I am aware that the saying at WTT is, don't stop til certain the problem is verifiably fixed, so onward and upward, let's do this! Gmer came back clean, said it found no modifications have been made to my system and in the log that I saved to my desktop, it was sempty when I opened it to copy & paste…I will re-attempt now… …re-attempted with the same results aswMBR version 0.9.9.1665 Copyright© 2011 AVAST Software Run date: 2012-03-31 09:42:59 —————————– 09:42:59.781 OS Version: Windows x64 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 09:42:59.781 Number of processors: 4 586 0x503 09:42:59.782 ComputerName: ORTIZFAMILY-HP UserName: Ortiz Family 09:43:04.771 Initialize success 09:44:09.983 AVAST engine defs: 12033100 09:44:29.344 Disk 0 (boot) \Device\Harddisk0\DR0 -> \Device\00000054 09:44:29.347 Disk 0 Vendor: ST310005 HP35 Size: 953869MB BusType: 11 09:44:29.353 Disk 0 MBR read successfully 09:44:29.356 Disk 0 MBR scan 09:44:29.371 Disk 0 unknown MBR code 09:44:29.385 Disk 0 Partition 1 80 (A) 07 HPFS/NTFS NTFS 100 MB offset 2048 09:44:29.429 Disk 0 Partition 2 00 07 HPFS/NTFS NTFS 940546 MB offset 206848 09:44:29.483 Disk 0 Partition 3 00 07 HPFS/NTFS NTFS 13221 MB offset 1926445056 09:44:29.557 Disk 0 scanning C:\Windows\system32\drivers 09:44:43.373 Service scanning 09:45:17.112 Modules scanning 09:45:17.132 Disk 0 trace - called modules: 09:45:17.160 ntoskrnl.exe CLASSPNP.SYS disk.sys amd_xata.sys storport.sys hal.dll amd_sata.sys 09:45:17.498 1 nt!IofCallDriver -> \Device\Harddisk0\DR0[0xfffffa8003a78790] 09:45:17.510 3 CLASSPNP.SYS[fffff8800199e43f] -> nt!IofCallDriver -> [0xfffffa80039baac0] 09:45:17.522 5 amd_xata.sys[fffff88000fc68b4] -> nt!IofCallDriver -> \Device\00000054[0xfffffa80039b59c0] 09:45:23.069 AVAST engine scan C:\Windows 09:45:36.636 AVAST engine scan C:\Windows\system32 09:51:24.264 AVAST engine scan C:\Windows\system32\drivers 09:51:41.462 AVAST engine scan C:\Users\Ortiz Family 09:57:14.471 Disk 0 MBR has been saved successfully to "C:\Users\Ortiz Family\Desktop\MBR.dat" 09:57:14.478 The log file has been saved successfully to "C:\Users\Ortiz Family\Desktop\aswMBR.txt" 10:08:35.040 AVAST engine scan C:\ProgramData 10:12:50.631 Scan finished successfully 10:13:50.629 Disk 0 MBR has been saved successfully to "C:\Users\Ortiz Family\Desktop\MBR.dat" 10:13:50.633 The log file has been saved successfully to "C:\Users\Ortiz Family\Desktop\aswMBR.txt" Thanks Conspire. You're welcome. We will go from here :)

We just want the scan log from TDSSKiller only, no need for cure.

Download TDSSKiller.exe and save it to your desktop
Execute TDSSKiller.exe by doubleclicking on it.
Press Start Scan
If Malicious objects are found, do NOT select Cure. Change the action to Skip, and save the log.
Once complete, a log will be produced at the root drive which is typically C:\ ,for example, C:\TDSSKiller.log.txt

Please post the contents of the log in your next reply.
Ran Kaspersky's TDSS killer and it came back clean, so I ran it again with the same results and it did not offer the opportunity to save a log. I await your further instruction, if any be required. Thanks Conspire. JuliusMaximus

Please STOP and let me know if you have any problems in performing with the steps above or any questions you may have.

Good Day!
Not that I'm aware of, I've always preferred the Google toolbar, but as I mentioned, I had downloaded FrostWire right before my system crashed, and on FrostWire I downloaded a trial for an audio plug-in (DB Audioware - QuantumFX) which was to expire 7 days from initiation, perhaps something might have been stowed away within that download. Aside, When we are through with the fix, am I to leave all of the fix-it programs on my desktop/computer or do I delete them? Thank You Conspire. JuliusMaximus
We will deal with the tools we use after we have confirmed everything is clean.

Now we use OTL to remove Babylon.

Run OTL.exe
  • Copy/paste the following text written inside of the code box into the Custom Scans/Fixes box located at the bottom of OTL

    :Files
    C:\Program Files (x86)\BabylonToolbar

    :Commands
    [EMPTYFLASH]
    [EMPTYTEMP]
    [CLEARALLRESTOREPOINTS]
  • Then click the Run Fix button at the top
  • Let the program run unhindered, reboot when it is done
  • Then post Fix OTL log as well as a new OTL log by rerunning it after reboot without custom scans script.
