Hi,

I need help. I think I'm infected with some kind of spyware.

Yesterday when I entered my username and password into the ebay log in screen, a window pops up asking me for my credit card details and ATM pin. I can't close the pop up and the only way to get out of it is to close the whole browser. I've scanned using MSE and malwarebytes but they are tellin gme there's no threat found. I still can't log in to ebay and the window still pop up.

I ran a scan using OTL. Below are the results of the OTL.Txt file and Extras.Txt file.

Here is the result of the OTL.Txt file:

Thank you.

**In any case where you happen to be busy or unable to give us a reply, we would be grateful if you keep us informed in advance and we will be more than happy to wait. Failure to do so we will have your thread closed in THREE(3) days. :)

Hello there, tahaminey

:welcome:

I'm Conspire, I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems.

Please observe these rules while we work:
  • Read the entire procedure
  • It is important to perform ALL actions in sequence.
  • If you don't know, stop and ask! Don't keep going on.
  • Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
  • Stick with me till you're given the all clear.
  • Remember, absence of symptoms does not mean the infection is all gone.
  • Don't attempt to clean your computer with any tools other than the ones I ask you to use during the cleanup process.

IMPORTANT NOTE : Please do not delete anything unless instructed to. Remember to backup all your important data(if possible) before moving on.
Let's check for rootkits.

[external image: Posted Image]
  • Please download GMER from one of the following locations, and save it to your desktop:
  • Main Mirror
This version will download a randomly named file (Recommended)
  • Zip Mirror
This version will download a zip file you will need to extract first. If you use this mirror, please extract the zip file to your desktop.
  • Extract the contents of the zipped file to desktop (applicable only to Zip mirror) .
  • Double click [external image: Posted Image] or [external image: Posted Image] on your desktop.
  • If it gives you a warning about rootkit activity and asks if you want to run scan…click on NO.
    [external image: Posted Image]

    [external image: Posted Image]
Click the image to enlarge it
  • In the right panel, you will see several boxes that have been checked. Uncheck the following …
    • IAT/EAT
    • Drives/Partition other than Systemdrive (typically C:\)
    • Show All (don't miss this one)
  • Then click the Scan button & wait for it to finish.
  • Once done click on the [Save..] button, and in the File name area, type in "Gmer.txt" or it will save as a .log file which cannot be uploaded to your post.
  • Save it where you can easily find it, such as your desktop, and attach it in your reply.
**Caution**
Rootkit scans often produce false positives. Do NOT take any action on any "<— ROOKIT" entries
Hi Conspire,

Thank you for your response.

When I ran gmer, it didn't give me a warning about rootkit activity or asked if I wanted to run scan.

Also, I didn't have to uncheck the boxes as they were already unchecked and greyed out.

This is what it looks like.

Screen capture

I was afraid to run scan as it didn't look the same as your image.

Is it ok for me to run scan?
My apologies, GMER doesn't support 64bit OS.

Please run the following

Please download aswMBR.exe and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click aswMBR.exe to start the tool. (Vista/Windows 7 users - right click to run as administrator)
  • Allow it to update where necessary
  • Click Scan

  • Upon completion of the scan, click Save log and save it to your desktop, and post that log in your next reply for review. Note - do NOT attempt any Fix yet.
  • You will also notice another file created on the desktop named MBR.dat. Right click that file and select Send To>Compressed (zipped) file. Attach that zipped file in your next reply as well.
I have attached the MBR zipped file and here is the log: aswMBR version 0.9.9.1649 Copyright© 2011 AVAST Software Run date: 2012-03-04 02:24:33 —————————– 02:24:33.498 OS Version: Windows x64 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 02:24:33.498 Number of processors: 8 586 0x1A05 02:24:33.499 ComputerName: KIEU-PC UserName: KIEU 02:24:36.239 Initialize success 02:25:21.845 Disk 0 (boot) \Device\Harddisk0\DR0 -> \Device\Ide\IdeDeviceP0T0L0-0 02:25:21.847 Disk 0 Vendor: ST31500341AS CC1H Size: 1430799MB BusType: 3 02:25:21.857 Disk 0 MBR read successfully 02:25:21.858 Disk 0 MBR scan 02:25:21.860 Disk 0 Windows 7 default MBR code 02:25:21.863 Disk 0 Partition 1 80 (A) 07 HPFS/NTFS NTFS 2504 MB offset 2048 02:25:21.873 Disk 0 Partition 2 00 07 HPFS/NTFS NTFS 650002 MB offset 5130240 02:25:21.875 Disk 0 Partition - 00 0F Extended LBA 778290 MB offset 1336335840 02:25:21.892 Disk 0 Partition 3 00 07 HPFS/NTFS NTFS 303278 MB offset 1336335903 02:25:21.895 Disk 0 Partition - 00 05 Extended 175002 MB offset 1957465433 02:25:21.914 Disk 0 Partition 4 00 07 HPFS/NTFS NTFS 175002 MB offset 1957465496 02:25:21.916 Disk 0 Partition - 00 05 Extended 199999 MB offset 2937005882 02:25:21.931 Disk 0 Partition 5 00 07 HPFS/NTFS NTFS 199999 MB offset 2315876352 02:25:21.934 Disk 0 Partition - 00 05 Extended 59999 MB offset 3705016738 02:25:21.957 Disk 0 Partition 6 00 07 HPFS/NTFS NTFS 59999 MB offset 2725476352 02:25:21.961 Disk 0 Partition - 00 05 Extended 39999 MB offset 4237496738 02:25:21.981 Disk 0 Partition 7 00 07 HPFS/NTFS NTFS 39999 MB offset 2848356352 02:25:22.020 Disk 0 scanning C:\Windows\system32\drivers 02:25:28.437 Service scanning 02:25:33.577 Service MpKsl9f492e5f C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Microsoft Antimalware\Definition Updates\{929084FD-059D-4AEE-834D-692B151B0317}\MpKsl9f492e5f.sys **LOCKED** 32 02:25:33.595 Service MpNWMon C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\MpNWMon.sys **LOCKED** 32 02:25:39.819 Modules scanning 02:25:39.824 Disk 0 trace - called modules: 02:25:39.845 ntoskrnl.exe CLASSPNP.SYS disk.sys ACPI.sys ataport.SYS pciide.sys PCIIDEX.SYS hal.dll atapi.sys 02:25:39.849 1 nt!IofCallDriver -> \Device\Harddisk0\DR0[0xfffffa800b3b4790] 02:25:39.853 3 CLASSPNP.SYS[fffff880019b043f] -> nt!IofCallDriver -> [0xfffffa800b175580] 02:25:39.857 5 ACPI.sys[fffff88000ed67a1] -> nt!IofCallDriver -> \Device\Ide\IdeDeviceP0T0L0-0[0xfffffa800b16d060] 02:25:39.863 Scan finished successfully 02:26:07.692 Disk 0 MBR has been saved successfully to "O:\Kieu's Multimedia Programs\2012\MBR.dat" 02:26:07.744 The log file has been saved successfully to "O:\Kieu's Multimedia Programs\2012\aswMBR.txt"

I ran combo fix and it created a log but when I tried to open a browser it says illegal operation on registry file marked for deletion. It won't let me open anything now. I am posting this msg via my phone. What should I do now?
I was able to copy the ComboFix file and transfer onto a USB stick and posting this on my sister's computer. Whenever I click onto anything on my computer it says 'Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion.' It won't let me turn on my MSE either. I'm very worried right now. I'm even too scared to turn off my computer incase I can't turn it back on again. Here is the ComboFix.txt file. That is completely normal. You have to reboot your computer to be able to use normally. Let me know the current condition of the machine after reboot.
Glad to hear that :)

Let's see if we can find some remnants.

Download TFC to your desktop
  • Close any open windows.
  • Double click the TFC icon to run the program
  • TFC will close all open programs itself in order to run,
  • Click the Start button to begin the process.
  • Allow TFC to run uninterrupted.
  • The program should not take long to finish it's job
  • Once its finished it should automatically reboot your machine,
  • if it doesn't, manually reboot to ensure a complete clean

ESET Online Scanner
I'd like us to scan your machine with ESET OnlineScan

Note: If you are using Windows Vista/7, open your browser by right-clicking on its icon and select 'Run as administrator' to perform this scan.

*Note
It is recommended to disable onboard antivirus program and antispyware programs while performing scans so there are no conflicts and it will speed up scan time.
Please don't go surfing while your resident protection is disabled!
Once the scan is finished remember to re-enable your antivirus along with your antispyware programs.

  • Hold down Control and click on the following link to open ESET OnlineScan in a new window.
    ESET OnlineScan
  • Click the [external image: Posted Image] button.

    • Click on [external image: Posted Image] to download the ESET Smart Installer. Save it to your desktop.
    • Double click on the [external image: Posted Image] icon on your desktop.
  • Check [external image: Posted Image]
  • Click the [external image: Posted Image] button.
  • Accept any security warnings from your browser.
  • Check [external image: Posted Image]
  • Make sure that the option "Remove found threats" is Unchecked
  • Push the Start button.
  • ESET will then download updates for itself, install itself, and begin
scanning your computer. Please be patient as this can take some time.
  • When the scan completes, push [external image: Posted Image]
  • Push [external image: Posted Image], and save the file to your desktop using a unique name, such as MyEsetScan. Alternatively, look for report in C:\Program Files\ESET\ESET Online Scanner\log.txt. Include the contents of this report in your next reply.
