Hiya folks'

Last week the site I am a moderator on came under attack, a few Pastor friends I know their system is infected, mine is acting sluggish at times and from that point on I have notice ip blocks from MBAM Pro been blocking and poping up it's getting to be more and more. So I am not sure if I have been attacked or not, ran my system through scans nothing been found, but not really sure. Here are the logs:

Hello Jimbo1 :wavey:

I'm sure you know the drill, but I'll give you my opening speech anyway :)

  • Malware Logs can sometimes take a lot of time to research and interpret.
  • Please be patient while I try to assist with your problem. If at any time you do not understand what is required, please ask for further explanation.
  • Please note that there is no "Quick Fix" to modern malware infections and we may need to use several different approaches to get your system clean.
  • Read every reply you receive carefully and thoroughly before carrying out the instructions. You may also find it helpful to print out the instructions you receive, as in some instances you may have to disconnect your computer from the Internet.
  • PLEASE NOTE: If you do not reply after 5 days your thread will be closed.

Please run the following tool while I am checking through your logs:

  • Please scan your system with GMER

    [external image: Posted Image]
Download GMER Rootkit Scanner from here or here.
    • Extract the contents of the zipped file to desktop.
    • Double click GMER.exe. If asked to allow gmer.sys driver to load, please consent.
    • If it gives you a warning about rootkit activity and asks if you want to run scan…click on NO.
    • In the right panel, you will see several boxes that have been checked. Uncheck the following …
    • IAT/EAT
    • Drives/Partition other than Systemdrive (typically C:\)
    • Show All (don't miss this one)
  • Then click the Scan button & wait for it to finish.
  • Once done click on the [Save..] button, and in the File name area, type in "Gmer.txt" or it will save as a .log file which cannot be uploaded to your post.
  • Save it where you can easily find it, such as your desktop, and post it in your reply.

**Caution**
Rootkit scans often produce false positives. Do NOT take any action on any "<— ROOTKIT" entries

Please post the GMER log in your next reply. If you encounter any problems with the scan come back and let me know.
Thanks, hate to give bad news i am out for the count with the flu atm and in bed, i logged on with labtop to let you know, when i can feel better to get back on that pc will do as instructed. Hope i can feel batter by tommrow or when. So this may be a reason for a delay. Jimmy
Hiya Tom, Back on my feet today and doing a lot better, I went to download gmer and once it starts the process about 18 seconds into the scan, I get GMER.exe has encounterd a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Do you wish to send an error report yes or no. Wwhen clicking on no it shuts down GMER. A little more info to this also, before I became sick, as in the past from what I told folks of getting rid of the AVG bloatware, I went to uninstall AVG and it would not remove itself from my system, I even tryed it in the add remove and will not let me do so, also tryed the AVG Removal tool and it will not remove. So I went to install MSE and after the install booted the machine, about half way into my desk top it hangs, tryed booting few more times and same result, had to do a system restore. Booted back into my desktop. Installed MSE because AVg was dead and did not want to be with out a AV, this time took a real long time to boot to desk top but it did, the scan took a whopping 10 hours to run and it found this. Exploit: Java/CVE-2010-0840.AN Exploit: Java/CVE-2010-0840.BA Remote Access:win32/TightVCN Waiting for futher instructions. Jimbo1
Hello Jimbo1

Back on my feet today and doing a lot better

Glad to hear it :)

Thank you for the extra information.

Lets continue as follows:

  • Please Clear Your Sun Java Cache

    • Click on "Start", then on "Control Panel" and then on the Java icon (looks like a coffee cup). If you do not see the icon, look to your left and click "Switch to Classic View".
    • On the "General" tab, under "Temporary Internet Files", click the "Settings" button.
    • Next, click on the "Delete Files" button.
    • There are two options in the window to clear the cache - ("Applications and Applets" and "Trace and Log Files").
    • Leave BOTH Checked
    • Click "OK" on Delete Temporary Files Window.
    • Note: This deletes all of the Downloaded Applications and Applets from the Cache.
    • Click "OK" to leave the Temporary Files Window.
    • Click "OK" to leave the Java Control Panel.
  • GMER

    • If you are having trouble getting GMER to complete a scan, please run it again, but this time uncheck everything EXCEPT "Sections" and "C:\".
    • If GMER does not produce a log please try running it from Safe Mode.

    • How to use the F8 method to Start Your Computer in Safe Mode

    • Restart your computer.
    • As soon as BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the "Advanced Options" menu appears.
    • Use the arrow keys to select the Safe mode menu item.
    • Press Enter.

    • If GMER in safe mode does not work, please try aswMBR:
  • aswMBR

    • Download aswMBR.exe to your desktop.
    • Double click the aswMBR.exe to run it.
    • When asked if you want to download Avast's virus definitions please select Yes.
    • Click the "Scan" button to start scan.

    [external image: Posted Image]

    • On completion of the scan click save log, save it to your desktop and post in your next reply.

    [external image: Posted Image]

Let me know if GMER/aswMBR are able to complete their scans in your next reply.
Hello Jimbo1

Thank you for the logs.

  • Combofix

  • Download ComboFix from one of the following locations:

    Link 1
    Link 2

  • VERY IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

  • IMPORTANT - Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. If you have difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, refer to this link here .
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.

  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.
  • Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

[external image: Posted Image]

  • Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

[external image: Posted Image]

  • Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.
  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.
  • Notes: Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
  • Do not "re-run" Combofix. If you have a problem, reply back for further instructions.
  • Should there be issues with internet afterward:

In IE: Tools Menu -> Internet Options -> Connections Tab -> Lan Settings -> uncheck "use a proxy server" or reconfigure the Proxy server again in case you have set it previously.

In Firefox: Tools Menu -> Options… -> Advanced Tab -> Network Tab -> "Settings" under Connection and uncheck the proxyserver, set it to No Proxy.

Please post the Combofix log in your next reply.
Scratch that, found out how to shut off MSE, ok ran CF but it was giving me a hard time about AVG running even tho I tryed to uninstall it but it would not or even let me delete the folder. So I ran CF at my own risk and here is the log file.

1st thing: As we say down here, stick a fork in it because it is done, the App remover killed that bugger AVG and removed it, way cool.

2nd Part - Windows remote management? Not sure of the saying but if I understand, I once tried to use 123logme rescue of another machine but could not get it to work, I may give it another crack later on to work on peoples machines online.

I use a program called MIRC in the chat room to moderate but not sure if this client program lets me log into other PC, not asked the Admin about this yet. Also tried Yahoo messenger but deleted it.

Use Skype also to talk to the other pastors in the room and the site Admin on the chat channel and the only other thing is the tcp/ip blocks MBAM is doing right now, had another attempt this morning trying to hit again me, Thats all about I know of, so I am not sure if this is helping you or not.

mIRC is riskware rather than malware. Provided you use it with caution there should be no problems.

Lets continue as follows:

  • Temporary File Cleaner

    • Download TFC to your desktop.
    • Close any open windows.
    • Double click the TFC icon to run the program.
    • TFC will close all open programs itself in order to run.
    • Click the Start button to begin the process.
    • Allow TFC to run uninterrupted.
    • The program should not take long to finish.
    • Once complete it should automatically reboot your machine.
    • If your machine does not reboot automatically, manually reboot to ensure a complete clean.
    • Note: After running TFC your machine may take slightly longer to boot the first time. This is normal.

  • MalwareBytes AntiMalware:

    • Double click on your MalwareBytes AntiMalware icon to launch the program.
    • Click on the "Update" tab and then on "Check for Updates".
    • The program will now install the latest Malware definition files.
    • Once complete, click on the "Scanner" tab, select "Perform Full Scan"and then click on "Scan".
    • Once the program has scanned your computer, a log file will be created in Notepad.
    • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.

    • If the scan detects any Malware-related objects, make sure that everything is checked, and click "Remove Selected" <– Very Important.
    • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to restart your computer.
    • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the "Logs" tab.
    • Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart your computer, please do so immediately.
    • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.

  • Please run the following scan

    • Note:Internet Explorer is preferred for this scan, although it will run with other browsers.
    • Note for Vista/Windows 7 Users: ESET is compatible but Internet Explorer must be run as Administrator. To do this, right-click on your Internet Explorer icon and select "Run as Administrator".
    • Please disable your real time security programs before performing the scan.

    • Scan your system with Eset Online Scanner
    • Place a check mark in the box YES, I accept the Terms Of Use.
    • Click the [external image: Posted Image] button.
    • For alternate browsers only: (Microsoft Internet Explorer users can skip these steps).
    • Click on [external image: Posted Image] to download the ESET Smart Installer. Save it to your desktop.
    • Double click on the [external image: Posted Image] icon on your desktop.

    • Check [external image: Posted Image]
    • Click the [external image: Posted Image] button.
    • Accept any security warnings from your browser.
    • Check [external image: Posted Image]

  • Once you have pasted the information into the Custom Scans/Fixes box, click the "Run Fix" button at the top.
  • Allow the program to run unhindered.
  • Your machine will re-start itself. This is normal.
  • A log will be created after your machine reboots. Please post the contents of the log in your next reply.

Please post the OTL log in your next reply and let me know how the machine is running now.
