Im so sorry about the multi posts! I got a network error and it must of posted like 12 copies. Somethings really wrong and I apologize. Mod please clean up the many duplicate replies.
Hello blahvirus109

Your OTL Extras.txt wasn't produced because this is your second OTL run. Extras.txt is only produced on the first run, unless we specifically ask the program for it.

Your OTL.txt is incomplete and posted twice that way. This may be due to an entry in the log that interferes with the copy/paste function.

Lets try to get some DDS logs instead…

Download DDS by sUBs to your desktop.
Your antivirus software might question the file. If it does, turn it off please :)
  • Double click DDS.scr to run it and wait for the scan to finish
  • When finished DDS.txt will open
  • A small while later, a prompt will open. Answer Yes
  • DDS will continue scanning
  • When done, Attach.txt will open
  • Post DDS.txt and attach Attach.txt
Hey im at work right now if i use another computer to transfer the file over and run it in safe mode would it intefere with results?
Hello blahvirus109

if i use another computer to transfer the file over and run it in safe mode would it intefere with results?

You can use whatever means you are able to bring DDS.scr to the infected machine, but it should run on the infected machine in normal mode.
I managed to get the two documents you requested. Here you go and thanks again! . No more redirects and vista securitys gone. I now get BSOD's everytime I try to use firefox now though. Google Chrome was the only browser that didn't get hijacked when I had the redirects. Did we miss anything? Also, I see other topics on the forum that had something similar to what I had, and they turned out to be zeroaccess rootkits. Was mine that severe? I only ran a couple scans and everything seems okay. But in order of the BSODs, how do we fix that? I liked Firefox the best. Another thing is, what better precautions can I take to make sure I don't get infected again (Better AV, firewall, whats the best programs) Again, thank you for all your help!
Hello blahvirus109

Did we miss anything?

We still have some work to do. Please hang in there with me for a few more tasks.

they turned out to be zeroaccess rootkits. Was mine that severe?

Indeed. You were infected with a ZeroAccess variant. ZA has many faces. It is one of the nastiest type infections we are seeing currently.

But in order of the BSODs, how do we fix that? I liked Firefox the best.

Thanks for the detail. We will address your BSOD in due course.

what better precautions can I take to make sure I don't get infected again

We will have some recommendations after we are done cleaning up.
I will have another set of instructions for you soon. My Teacher must check them for accuracy first.
Awesome! Thanks and i heard this nasty may have stolen personal information. I havent typed any personal data in since the virus was put on i started to change my personal passwords. Whats the chance data was stolen?
Hello blahvirus109

First,

P2P - I see you have P2P software ( µTorrent ) installed on your machine. We are not here to pass judgment on file-sharing as a concept. However, we will warn you that engaging in this activity and having this kind of software installed on your machine will always make you more susceptible to re-infections. It likely contributed to your current situation. This page will give you further information.
Please note: Even if you are using a "safe" P2P program, it is only the program that is safe. You will be sharing files from uncertified sources, and these are often infected. The bad guys use P2P filesharing as a major conduit to spread their wares.
Please see this topic for more information:
Perils of P2P File Sharing.
I would strongly recommend that you uninstall these now. You can do so via Control Panel >> Add or Remove Programs.

If you choose to leave them on the machine, please refrain from using them while we are cleaning the machine to prevent further infection.

Hello blahvirus109

A few things are left to clean up…

Create and Run a CFScript:

  • Please open Notepad (Start -> Run -> type notepad in the Open field -> OK) and copy and paste the text present inside the code box below:

KILLALL::

ClearJavaCache::

File::
c:\users\Nick\AppData\Roaming\inst.exe
C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-netbt_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6002.18005_none_6250416df465f2b1\netbt.sys

68,64,6d,69,6f,62,00,71

  • Save this as CFScript.txt and change the "Save as type" to "All Files" and place it on your desktop.

[external image: Posted Image]

  • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before following the steps below. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
  • If you need help to disable your protection programs see here.
  • Referring to the screenshot above, drag CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe.
  • ComboFix will now run a scan on your system. It may reboot your system when it finishes. This is normal.
  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Copy and paste the contents of the log in your next reply.

CAUTION: Do not mouse-click ComboFix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

How is your machine running now? Do you still get a BSOD when bringing up FireFox?

If you still have FireFox problems after this ComboFix run, try a uninstall / re-install of FireFox.
Please let us know how it goes
