3 men decide to hunting. They grab their stuff and pile into a a 1957 chevy Belair with 4-barrel carbs and head down Hwy 97 to a little inn just outside of 6 Corners. They arrived at 4:30 pm.
When they check in at the inn, one of them remarked to the manager that he had stayed here in 2004 and really like the view from Room 110. The manager stated that Room 110 was not currently available but Room 112, right next door, was. Them men took it. The manager also informed them that the room rates had gone up in the last 7 years and it was now $30 per night.
Each man took out their wallet and placed a $10 dollar bill on the counter. The manager asked if they needed help with their bags, looking toward a seedy looking twenty something bellhop leaning against the wall just inside the door to the lounge. The men only had two bags each, one with clothes and the other was their gun cases. Each had brought a different caliber. One had a .243, one had a .270, and the last was a 30-06. The men declined the services of the bellhop and took the key and headed to their room.
After a short time, the manager noticed that the men had made reservations and were confirmed at a rate of $25 per night. It was his policy to honor reservations so he called the bellhop over and gave him 5 one dollar bills. He instructed the bellhop to take the money to to the hunters in Room 112 and explain to them that they had been inadvertently overcharged. As the bellhop was heading to the room he began to thing that if the men had let him handle their bags he would have probably received a couple of dollars in tip. He felt cheated. He decided that since their were three men… he would pocket 2 dollars and just deliver 3 one dollar bills to the room.
After the bellhop made his delivery, each of the men had paid $9. 3 time 9 = 27 and the bellhop had kept $2.
What happened to the thirtieth dollar?
