I run the Mozilla Firefox on my computer and 75% of the time the internet will crash while in process of using, loading etc., its then like a domino effect and everything else follows. Does this mean there is a virus ? Or is there anything that i can do differently to stop this from occurring.? I also run Microsoft security essentials , malware bytes' Anti- malware, and ad-aware, by lavasoft. Theres nothing that shows up while running scans, so is there anything I'm doing wrong? please help.

IMPORTANT NOTE : Please do not delete anything unless instructed to.
DO NOT use any TOOLS such as Combofix or HijackThis fixes without supervision.
Doing so could make your system inoperable and could require a full reinstall of your OS losing all your programs and data.

Vista and Windows 7 users:
These tools MUST be run from the executable (.exe) every time you run them
with Admin Rights (Right click, choose "Run as Administrator")

Please download DDS from one of the following links and save it to your desktop.
    • DDS.scr
    • DDS.pif
  • Disable any script blocking protection (How to Disable your Security Programs)
  • Double click DDS icon to run the tool (may take up to 3 minutes to run)
  • When done, DDS.txt will open.
  • After a few moments, attach.txt will open in a second window.
  • Save both reports to your desktop.

  • Attach the Attach.txt report to your post by scroling down to the Attachments area and then clicking Browse. Browse to where you saved the file, and click Open and then click UPLOAD.

Please download aswMBR to your desktop.

  • Double click the aswMBR icon to run it.
    Vista and Windows 7 users right click the icon and choose "Run as administrator".
  • Click the Scan button to start scan.
  • When it finishes, press the save log button, save the logfile to your desktop and post its contents in your next reply.

Download GMER Rootkit Scanner from here or here.
  • Extract the contents of the zipped file to desktop.
  • Double click GMER.exe. If asked to allow gmer.sys driver to load, please consent .
  • If it gives you a warning about rootkit activity and asks if you want to run scan…click on NO.

  • In the right panel, you will see several boxes that have been checked. Uncheck the following …
    • IAT/EAT
    • Drives/Partition other than Systemdrive (typically C:\)
    • Show All (don't miss this one)
  • Then click the Scan button & wait for it to finish.
  • Once done click on the [Save..] button, and in the File name area, type in "Gmer.txt" or it will save as a .log file which cannot be uploaded to your post.
  • Save it where you can easily find it, such as your desktop, and attach it in your reply.

**Caution**
Rootkit scans often produce false positives. Do NOT take any action on any "<— ROOKIT" entries.

In your next reply please post both of the logs created by DDS, the log created by aswMBR and the log created by GMER. :)

Hey Jeff thanks for the help I tried doing the thing you sent but I only got the dds to work the aswmbr scan said it wasnt win 32 compatible and I couldnt do it.Then I tried to do the scan from major geek it stopped during the scan and said there was an error so I started the scan again and during the scan the mozilla crashed at that time it was late so I woke up this morning and it crashed again but I got error reports that I had a blue scree crash and I had to update drivers I didnt want to do anymore till I contacted you please help Mike

I notice that you have both Lavasoft Ad-Watch Live! Anti-Virus and Microsoft Security Essentials running at the same time. Having more than one antivirus program running at the same time can seriously degrade the performance of your system. Please uninstall either Lavasoft Ad-Watch Live! Anti-Virus or Microsoft Security Essentials (which ever you prefer) using either the provided uninstall feature that is part of the antivirus program or through Add/Remove Programs (for Vista and Win 7 users to go to Programs and Features in the Control Panel). As a rule of thumb one should run one firewall, one antivirus program in memory, and one antispyware utility in memory. It's fine to have other security tools available on an as-needed or on-demand basis, but when multiple tools simultaneously perform the same function, you're asking for trouble.

  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools.   • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

1.Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
2. ComboFix may reset a number of Internet Explorer's settings, including making I-E the default browser.
3. CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.

To submit a file to virustotal, please click VirusTotal

copy and paste the following into the upload a file box (one at a time if more than one file is listed)

c:\windows\system32\drivers\frit.sys

scroll down a bit and click "send file", wait for the results and post them in your next reply.

Please note that sometimes the scans take a few minutes. Please ensure that the scan has completed and the results are complete before submitting the next sample. Also please make sure each result is clearly identified as to which sample they belong to.

I have tried to do combo fix a bunch of times as per instructions but c I cant get it right .Once I download it it runs a scan and I can never drag or do anything while the scan is running.Sorry this one I am having problems with…………………………Thanks Mike

Hey Jeff,I tried again to do the combo fix and I am not able to do it as per your instructions I think the problem is that I dont get any prompt to save it to my desktop.Maybe theres something I am not doing right that I am not seeing.

Oh ok…you do not need to download ComboFix again. Just use the icon for ComboFix that should be on your Desktop right now (it looks like a cat in a red circle). Once you have the fix made in Notepad using the instructions I gave you, you just need to drag that new .txt file onto the ComboFix icon and that will run the fix. Once ComboFix finishes it will produce a new log that you can post into your next reply. :) I will post the instructions again so you can use them.
