No worries!!!! Listen, I'm running into a problem and it possibly could be me, lol!!! UMMMM, when you say we're restoring computer to factory settings, I assume that (and this is where I might be wrong) everything is wiped, including archived email messages. So when I connected the new external hard drive to computer, and did a back up as I was reading the manual it says that the system and hidden files from o/s are auto put there when u install drive. Also, when looking up Windows Live support, they say that emails and archived emails are stored in system too. And when I was looking for where the emails are kepts, they're located under my user name, app data, microsoft, …… Windows Live only keeps current emails, not storage emails and I have a ton, just dont know how to retrieve them quickly ( I would have to look and that would take time and I'm so ADD that I would get sidetracked and it would end up taking me hours, lol)! Another thing, what is PSERARIO_RP (D) and what is in there, because I'm assuming a lot of those files that are in BLUE are bad, but there is one file created when we got the computer called bootmgr, on 10/3/06 sys file. There is a couple backup files in there. could I try using those? Also, I have b/u's from last year and from maybe 6 months ago! Do we have an idea when all this started???? Could this help? Sry if my questions are stupid but I am worried that I'm gonna lose everything, or worse yet , loose everything and still have problems…. BTW, I went ahead and deleted the external h/d, but the b/u still shows up. it was suppose to delete all. I have to download the start up configurations from website and format drive prior to using again. How do I delete the b/u already on there. I tried to do it 3 ways according to manual directions. Tried formatting, deleted in control panel, and even did the "enter you password wrong 5 times to unlock it will auto go to program for deletion….. Another thing, I have more time tonite then a little tommorrow morning. I'm packing family up for a long weekend camping and will try, try to take computer w/me, but might not have internet access. we'll be gone friday night til monday. will that be a problem….??? I know, it's always something w/me!!!!!! ;)
Oh also, when I started to realize the problem, Microsoft was in my computer and did change things, but i dont know what they did. I did find that the rep that worked on the cmputer left his contact name and email address, but I never contacted him. I did see he did change something in my windowslive mail folder cause it was dated on the date he worked on it…..
Hi Tiffany, It's ok if you don't have internet access because I can wait till you are back. :) To make your life easier, let's list down the things that you wish to backup and then I will give specific instructions accordingly. So now you want to backup archive emails from outlook 2007…. what else? I'm sorry that I'm not all too familiar with Western Digital's backup software, but I will try to find on deleting the old backup in the next morning since now it's late night on my side. Need to get some sleep real soon. Haha
I'M HERE! I'M HERE!!! Sooooo sry bout not touching base w/you sooner! It's been a fairlly dramatic week for me, just couldnt get to computer! I'm b/u today and will follow instruction to start, then reply back! Ummm, were you able to check bout if I need a reboot/factory settings disk from Microsoft? Let me know! AGain, super sorry, and THANKS for not abandoning me, lol!!! Tiff :smack:
 No worries! Can you check this for me? Find out if you have Recovery Manager software inside. Go to Select Start > All Programs > Recovery Manager > Recovery Manager. Below is for when you're ready to start recovery. If you do, go ahead and click Advance Options -> System Recovery -> Next
